That's not new. I've always lived near the Texas border in another state. Lots of illegals end up in those areas too. An education is a right and it can't be denied. There was a court case about it. All children must receive some form of education legally. We got so many we had to set ESL courses ( English as a Second Language). They're bused to a special school in the morning where they're taught English and then the last 2 or 3 hours are spent at the regular school. That's done for a couple years until they get a really good grasp on English. So contrary to the narrative, this has never been just an issue that only impacted border states and sucked up their tax dollars. It sucks up the tax dollars of some of the poorest states in the country keeping them that way. It's why even though my previous state was one of the poorest it also has some of the highest taxes. The federal government doesn't pay for it so we're forced to.

@For_The_Republic92 If you're a "patriot" you should know basic civics which includes which branch of government controls the NATIONAL border. States can control their border with other states, but national matters like the international border is controlled by the federal government. It's not even that hard. Just ask who employs border agents, ICE, etc. It's the federal government. Edit: Before you try to claim a state can deploy their guard, they are also ultimately under the command of the Commander in Chief.

@thedarknate08 Unfortunately I've seen this a lot. It's just more proof of how uninformed the population is about how their own government functions. It's become an extremely sad situation because it also means they don't know the avenues available for grievances so they never do anything about what they don't like other than complain online.

@jordanrock3494 If what the immigrants are saying to reporters is true, they'll just ask to be deported. A lot it appears came because they were told by organizations that operate in these countries that if they went to these cities they'd be given everything for free. A nice place to stay, food, education, and healthcare. One report admitted most of them aren't being sent by Abbot but are coming from El Paso because they're requesting the border agents to be sent there.

@michaelwaller7365 No they don't because a course has to be set up to teach them English. Until they learn it, they spend very little time in school with the other children. The school district hire ESL teachers that teach them English and basic education at the same time for most of the day. It's usually another school campus or building set aside for it. They leave for it after roll call in the morning, usually about 30 minutes after the start of the school day and come back after the last lunch period. Edit: They come back to the school for a couple hours because there they can engage in conversations with their peers which improves their retention and understanding of English as they're learning it.

@kaykaymishka5548 As a Texan you're completely ignorant of what your tax dollars have been doing. Abbot put up a floating barricade, barbed wire and razor wire, and has purchased the section of the border wall that's being put in place. All except the wall have been removed by the courts because the state doesn't control the country's border. That's under the purview of the federal government. Most of these immigrants aren't being sent by Abbot. They're being sent by the federal government because they're requesting those cities when they encounter the federal border agents.
