  1. The thing they really get wrong is it's not for home defense. It's the preferred weapon by women for home defense. That's because it's a higher caliber with little recoil or kickback. A normal higher caliber rifle, most women would have to brace their shoulder against a wall to prevent injuring themselves or firing at the ceiling because it kicked up and the butt slams back into their shoulder.

  2. The guy wasn't covering for him. He was explaining that them laying out the time-line from when the unit received deployment orders means he didn't know they were going to be when he retired. He's pointed out that given his rank, he would have been told before then to get ready for deployment.
