@realamerican8069 It was changed from Indian because people from India were migrating to the US and it was confusing. It's also because we were only called that because Columbus thought he landed in India and said we were Indians. Our DNA is unique. Every human DNA can be traced back from the same areas where the species originated. While we share markers with Mongolians, we were separated for over 7,000 years from other humans which is the time required to develop a unique DNA. That's like saying a Pine tree isn't really a Pine because it shares some DNA traits with other evergreens. Edit: We can also be called Indigenous which is the preferred term in Canada. We populate both American continents, we just go by different terms depending on the local population. Not unlike how we have different tribes and nation names. My step father was Cherokee, but he shares DNA with Mayan. There is also 2 seperate groups. The ones that migrated across the land bridge and the ones that settled South America by boat. It's seperate DNAs.

This comes from black supremacist groups such as Nation of Islam and Black Israelites. It's hilarious because they're assuming the out of Africa theory means the first modern humans were black. They fail to learn anything beyond what the theory is called. Humans didn't begin in sub Sahara Africa. They began in the fertile crescent which is in north Africa in what we currently call the Middle East. As they spread south, their skin darkened to deal with the increased sun exposure. They would have been tan, not black. Since we come from a split off from Apes, do they think an Ape's skin color is the same as their fur? Shave one and see. Their skin is light because the fur sheilds it from the sun. We had fur, so our skin was shielded as well. They can't stand that the groups that migrated south never achieved what the others did. So they have to claim it for themselves out of jealousy. They become what they claim to decry, stealing other people's inventions and progress.

@victorhopper6774 Yes and no. If the population drops too low, the government can and will remove them from being federally recognized. Then they lose the reservation which is the only place their culture and language exists, if the language wasn't lost already. It was illegal to practice Native religions off the reservation until the 90s. Some rituals are still illegal.

I have seen a lot of black people claim we've gotten reparations. They see that some get a check from the government and assume that's what it is. I have had to explain to many that those are from lawsuits that were won because the government stole land. The government also stole from the trust their supposed to pay out to the tribes for companies mining or drilling on Native land and that lawsuit was just finished a few years ago. I point them to the CSPAN video during Obama's administration of a committee looking into giving us reparations, but they said no because it would be too difficult.

@ST-rj8iu China is homogeneous and doesn't allow permanent immigration. That's not a good example at all.
