Metokur introduced a new shirt last night. It's got ice cubes on it that spell ICE and beneath it in Spanish, "If you can read this, you're getting deported." He said if anyone reacts to it, you know who to call.

@luckdragongirl That doesn't mean they're owned by corporations. When we were house hunting at the tail end of Covid, almost every house had been bought and flipped by realtors. Driving up the price. I have a second home because it was my grandparent's house that they built in the 50s. That's a lot of what ends up as rentals. That happened to that neighborhood because the houses were cheap and bought by realtors that flipped them and rented them out.

What BlackRock was buying was development. It was areas that were already being planned to be housing developments. Those horrible HOA type places with cookie-cutter houses that get thrown up real quick. People were being bid against by flippers. Usually realtors. Who buys up older houses during housing bubbles, does a little remodeling, and drives up the price. I know because I was bidding against them. The ONLY reason we ended up getting the house we did was because it's a community that tries to police who comes in. Make sure they're going to keep the property in good shape, makes enough money, etc. It was between that and an HOA because they set parameters on applicants. Edit: My husband was already working here for months staying in a hotel because we kept getting out bid or it sold before we could even schedule a viewing. 9 out of 10 homes on the market that were turnkey ready were owned by local realtors. Since they know it's coming onto the market before anyone else, they swoop in and grab them as soon as the listing goes live.

@blacksnakesofwisconsin Depends on the place. California just recently passed a bill giving them a housing a loan that as long as they live there for a few years, they don't have to pay back.

Wow! Where are you? My house was $185,000. 3 bed, 2 bath, large lot, in ground pool. It's only valued at $230,000 now. My son bought a house last year for $60,000. This is Oklahoma. We're just north of Texas, and he's just east of Kansas. Edit: Some people who work around Dallas live here because it's an hour commute and we have a train that goes back and forth.

I know a LOT of legal Hispanic immigrant families. Legal immigrants hate illegals just as much as the rest of. Even more so in many cases. It's a slap in their face. It's their jobs too.
