The global censorship and pay raise was ridiculous.

Yes! Reading it, getting out to the public what was in it, and Musk and Trump responding to the feedback. That's how this is supposed to work. We're supposed to know so we can contact our representatives and let them know how WE want them to vote. It's about freaking time it got back to for the people by people.

@openranks4519 Elon was born in Canada. Not South Africa. He's been a citizen since 2002, before some voters were even born. My husband is also a first-generation citizen. Is his tax money less important than yours? Edit: What you and these politicians don't seem to get is that Musk was paying attention to the citizens on his platform once what all was in it came out. He stepped in because WE were upset and didn't want it passed. All this unnecessary spending is what we want stopped. Especially trying to sneak in a raise for themselves. They go in poor and are millionaires in a year. They don't need one.

@NateOnThe-Radio That was this bill. This was the spending bill to fund the government until March.

Personally I don't think the government should be funding it in the first place. There are charities that do it and private companies. The scientists in the government that do the research then get paid from the patent for the rest of their lives, but the taxpayer gets nothing. If the medications were sold at just above cost of production because our tax dollars funded the research, maybe then I'd feel different. Until then, not interested. Edit: Where's the research into prostate cancer? It's all focused on women. Breast cancer due to massive research and education pumped into it is already has one of the highest survival rates. Time to move to one of the lower ones.

4:53 Yes. That's not the government's job. I've seen what "research" the government funds. That's the job of the private sector. If my tax money is developing these amazing medications, then we shouldn't be charged for them. One or the other. This both business or paying to see how hamsters react to cocain is over. Edit: Breast cancer, especially. It's already one of the most survivable types thanks to all the funding. You'll never cure cancer because of what it is. We know how to detect it early. Research complete.

@TheWhiteRabbit-my8eh I've never understood this claim when there are basically cures for many types now if caught early. Since cancer kills, how do they make more from someone that will never take any medication ever again because they're no longer alive to? Breast cancer, leukemia, and several others are very curable. They have a very high survival rate. Fewer die from those a year than the flu. Those people will now grow old and require medications like blood pressure and such for a good portion of their lives. They paid to treat and get rid of the cancer, as well as will be able to pay for future care. This claim doesn't hold up because they'd charge a massive amount for the cure and patients would be alive to require more later. The other way, they just are no longer around in a few years.

You can't and never will be able to cure every type simply because of the nature of it. It's an over production of your own cells. Same with autoimmune diseases and chromosomal disorders. Unless they can alter your genes before birth, but even then, it would only eliminate some.

@idahotrumpdog5276 Good thing you weren't terminal because then those organizations don't help either. It's why they'll never get a cent from me. My grandmother had lung cancer. She was poor. On welfare kind of poor. They wouldn't do anything because she was terminal. They said helping people like that makes their survival ratio look too bad. Thank God for her doctor. He sent us flowers when she died with the bill marked paid in full. He covered all her treatment for the 10 years she'd received it.
