Having been a substitute teacher and also worked full-time to help kids that couldn't keep up, it's because the parents aren't involved and half the time don't even make them go when they're little. They don't push education as important because it's considered dumb to do in the culture. They'd rather they get good at a sport and get rich quick. Obviously not all. One of my son's best friends is a poor a black kid who's mother was a widow and he's now a biologist, but he's the exception and it took his mom ridding him night and day about the importance of it or he would have ended up like a lot of his cousins.   2. ​​​ @westonding8953  It absolutely is part of the problem. It's what set up a lot of the difficulties in holding a child back. Instead of tieing funding to improvement it tied it to test scores. Which created the teaching to the test system. Teachers are given a curriculum of what's likely going to be on it and that's what they plan lessons with. You're limited to how many kids can even be recommend to be held back. Then the teacher has to go before the school board and present a case as to why they should be. Grades aren't enough. Edit: They're also evaluated on college readiness. How many are committed to a college before graduation. Counselors don't talk about trades or jobs anymore because of it. It's all college major discussion. That's from Obama's push for students to be "prepared for a global workforce." Instead of preparing them to find jobs. Common Core is the name of Obama's education reform.

  3. I entered school not long after it was implemented. I've watched our education rate drop steadily since then. It wasn't a big deal at first and then every administration had to fiddle with it.

  4. To be fair they're edited to show the worst responses and some are absolutely because they know that's how to get in the video. Same with the ones talking to girls outside of bars. Please stop taking everything you see on the internet at face value.
