My kids are adults now and absolutely cherish their memories of Disney World trips. We did 3. They aren't interested in going back because everything that made it great is now extra costs instead of part of the experience. All the little perks were what made it worth the money. The magic is gone.

I've seen it brought up several times. Was there an extermination of every dark skinned carried out by every single race? It just shows how they don't care about the story, the work, or continuity. They only care about the message. My understanding is it's far more sinister. Celeborn is dead somehow, even though he's in LotR and Galadriel gets involved with the guy on the ship and he's the dark Lord (before he's the Dark Lord, but he went by many names prior). It's completely lore breaking in an attempt to do what Bezos demanded and turn it into GoT.

@jfmaccoll You mean just like the original? Recruitment increased by 100s of percentage points and they even put recruiting officers outside the films in the movie theaters back then. Just like with this one, the military was heavily involved with the script and movie.

That hasn't been a thing in the US since the late 1800s when the first woman was admitted to the BAR. 40% of all women graduated university during that time period too. Women alive in the US now and for several generations don't know what oppression is. Instead now women making choices is seen as oppression. I've had women attack me for my choice to be a traditional stay at home mother so no, men aren't oppressing women. Feminist are.

@daggerquillgaming Next episode Galadriel will say her husband is dead. Before you try to claim something ignorant like "Maybe Celeborn is her 2nd husband", Elves don't do that. Because they are immortal, they love once and once only. One mate for eternity. When they both "die", they'll be reunited in Valinor or the other Elf can return to Valinor at any point and rejoin their spouse. Galadriel met Celeborn while at the court of the Maia in the 1st Age. They were married and then traveled to form their own kingdom. All of that is in the Silmarillion. The "vague" book you know nothing about. So if he's dead in the show, that means she already trained under the Maia and everything you're claiming "might, maybe, possibly" occur later, already did and the rest can never. The actors and showrunners have said they have made sure each female main character have "agency" which means they don't have a man influencing them and aren't married. People who know the lore know it's already been so messed up by this show it might as well nonexistent to it. Again, you can like it all you want. You don't get to demand and stomp your foot because people who know and love Tolkien's lore and world don't. This idea that if you like something, nobody can criticize it is ridiculous and childish. You're acting like a toddler told they can't have candy. Which is even more ridiculous because you're watching and enjoying the show which means you got your candy already.

@daggerquillgaming Elves stop aging at around that age. You're commenting about things you know NOTHING about because you don't know the lore. There are no elderly looking Elves because they are immortal. They literally never die. Their body might expire, but they're returned to Valinor where they're resurrected. The 2nd Age is not vague. It's detailed in the Silmarillion which the showrunners said repeatedly that they referenced back to and had copies of on set for the actors to refer to. Jackson used everything Tolkien wrote as a reference even though he only had the rights to the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy. They are depicting an event from the Silmarillion that was mentioned in the appendices. The story of the Elf fighting the Bolrog was directly from the Silmarillion. You can like it, but don't you DARE tell people that know thus work inside and out that they are wrong when know nothing of it.

@SeasideDetective2 A woman that isn't muscular can't physically defend herself from a male attacker unless she's got a gun. That's why it's called the great equalizer and why male and female sports are separate. Women in these roles, especially in gaming, are no longer beautiful while doing so, but have very masculine features and rotound bodies. That's why in realistic movies and books, women use their intelligence and guile to defeat a foe rather than physical strength. I don't know who these people are you're referring to either. Being out of shape and obese as a woman is praised in today's society. Attitude wise, we are encouraged (wrongly in my opinion) to act like men. Gina Carano is praised because she bravely stood up for herself and didn't bow to the mob to save her career. She's praised for sticking by her principles. It has nothing to do with her looks or physical abilities, and everything about her character as a person. Edit: You seem to have a very surface level, shallow understanding of people in general.

@victordike8467 As others have said, Bucky was Captain America. He was the first one the mantle was passed to in the comics. Because it made logical sense and still does. I don't even read comics, but remember that because it was such a huge deal. That a chick that doesn't even read comics knew that, and you don't must be such an embarrassment. Unlike the Green Latern, whose powers come from the ring and get passed around, when a major superhero passed on the mantle for the first time, it was a big deal. That they'd hinted in previous Captain America movies it would be passed to Bucky, and then went straight to Falcon, screams ESG and "diversity." You claiming Bucky "came out of nowhere" when he's been in every Captain America movie as well as a couple of Avengers ones also screams you don't know wtf you're talking about. According to comics, it should be Bucky. According to previous Captain America films, it should be Bucky. It should be Bucky. That I'd go see. Good day, sir!

I actually think that's the idea. I really believe they are intentionally making the good guys be bad and the bad guys sympathetic. That the good guys are really the ones who drove Sauron to be evil. To do that to Tolkien's work is disgusting.

They weren't expecting this fandom though. They thought the backlash would die down after the first episodes were released like has happened with other shows. That their bot armies of 10s could offset us. They were wrong and it's been enjoyable watching even the mainstream critics turning against them.

I don't recall them even hinting that Bucky rejected it making Falcon the second choice. Bucky just handed it to him saying Steve wanted him to do it. Bucky wouldn't have gone against Steve's wishes. So I wouldn't say he wouldn't have it so much as wasn't offered it by Steve.

@AustinHHerrington You're version of Galadriel is completely incorrect. That's from the Tolkien's notes as he decided on the final version of the Silmarillion. He wrote 7 versions and published the one he wanted that is canon. According to you, all 7 versions are because he wrote them. Even though he never intended any but the one to be published.

Are men being oppressed because they are forced by law to financially care for a child they never agreed to have? If you're answer is no, then neither is a woman. Plus you're not addressing why she's being denied. It has nothing to do with the abortion laws and everything to do with being an orphan that currently has no guardian. I can agree that judges ruling was wrong, but you're blaming half the country for a poor court decision that will be appealed and most likely overturned. You're too ignorant to understand the difference between laws and a bad court decision. According to the law, she's well within the legal limit which is 15 weeks. A limit the overwhelming majority of the population of the entire country supports and every other country does as well except Canada, North Korea, and China. Even in Canada it varies by province. It's beyond lame to use a single court case and apply it to every woman as proof of something when it doesn't affect every woman. It's just manipulation and not factual. The state abortion laws don't apply to every woman and are overwhelming supported by the women in those states. The prolife movement is almost exclusively women, the pro abortion movement has a ton of men in it. So either way you slice it, it's not oppression by men. Edit: If you want to talk about oppression by men when it comes to abortion, how about all the men that pressure a woman to get one? They threaten to leave and manipulate a woman in a vulnerable situation. You don't care about that though. Only women making decisions in their states that pertains to them.

@daveteves Iron Man is an OG character that's been around a very long time. He was never one character turned into another. No mantle was passed to him from a popular character. You're comparing apples and oranges. If Iron Man wasn't at least decently popular, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did.

That group doing the convention sound like they really love his work by how almost every panel is about how wrong he was and how to "improve" it. Edit: Define "ages". All I've seen are people in their 20s and maybe 30s who have degrees in things like gender something or race something along with other degrees. If you have a degree in an ideology, that ideology will affect the view you have on the other subjects you have a degree in. If you have studied something for ages, you'd be elderly.

@eoghankelly4377 It was the 6th king that changed it. Miriel was supposed to be the ruler, but her cousin forced her to marry him and he seized the Scepter of Numenor making him ruler. So this series makes no sense. Maybe know the lore before calling people names. She isn't supposed to be the ruler. She's an abused woman in a horrible relationship dominated by her husband. Her husband, the Golden, is corrupted easily by Sauron and attacks Valinor. Miriel is swept away and the line dies.

I was looking forward to how they would portray her given her situation. That perhaps there were those still loyal to her that helped protect her or help her not feel so alone and betrayed. Nope! They just ditch it all because we can't have a weak female portrayed ever.

@bryanwhite5114 That seems to be a theme with Johnson. The problem is, he's still making bad movies. Intentionally or not doesn't change the outcome. Then that begs the question of why someone who's supposed to be good intentionally makes bad movies? Because they really aren't that good and are hiding it behind "I meant to do that".

@bluelantern5241 Sam became Captain America in 2015. Disney bought Marvel, including the comics, in 2009. Pretty much anything done in the comics from 2010 onward was for Disney to make movies from. In case you can't tell from StarWars, they love buying successful properties but hate using anything from before they bought it. Bucky was Captain America before Disney purchased it so no way would they make that a storyline.

@Micisme86 Bucky was Captain America before him in the comics. 2015 was when Falcon became Captain America in the comics. That's not "over a decade." It's not even a decade. Can we also stop pretending 10 years is a long time? Saying a decade to make it seem longer is silly. The character has been around 83 years. 9 years is nothing.

@thomriley1036 Drinker went over that. There's ways to do it that stay within the confines of the rules of that world. Dune is an example of that. As bad as the Terminator movies became, time travel was established from the start. I mean in the very first movie her son's bestfriend in the future comes back and impregnated her with his future bestfriend. It's even established in StarWars because Palpatine's master told him he'd learned how to live forever using the force. They chose to go with "somehow" instead of using it.

@SeasideDetective2 This is what some, even in these comments, don't understand. These are European fairytales and lore. So by doing this in these movies rather than take just as rich lore from the areas the race they are claiming to care about, they are saying they aren't valid if they aren't in huwhite lore. It's extremely racist and it's hilarious people don't understand it. Some do, but most miss it. They are saying only these stories are worth anything so we've got to shove them into it. It's not like there haven't been successful tales from other areas that they've done either. The Lion King is an African folktale, Aladdin is from Arabian Nights tales, and Mulan from Chinese folktales. So they can't even claim there's not good stories from those cultures. To these woke people, European culture is the only meaningful culture.

@warlocc-paul Just like Snow White, the Little Mermaid is a European folktale. She had sisters that represent and reside in every ocean so they could have created a new story for one of those sisters that lived in an area that skintone would make sense in. Just like in The Hunchback of Notre Dame Esmerelda is depicted as darker skinned because the character in the original is a Roma (Gypsy) dancer.

As a Tolkien fan, people can't understand how much we wanted this to be good when it was picked up 5 years ago. We would have praised it to the high heavens. We'd still debate it, because that's what we do, but we wouldn't bash it.

I was really looking forward to Blade, but not now. He was always a favorite. It can't be done properly as PG. His entire persona is wrapped in death. Not a family friendly hero.

@davidramirezf90 Because Bucky was Captain America in the comics. He's the first one the mantle was passed to. Previous Captain America films heavily hinted he'd be taking on the mantle especially in Civil War. Because in the comics, that's when it was passed to Bucky. This is because Perlmutter did the development to Phase 2 and Civil War. He's who laid out the movie progression. Feige took over after that and it was a mess. Gunn has talked about how when he went to write Guardians 2 he asked about where the movies were going so he could make them fit in with the rest. There was no plan. So he wrote out an outline that finished out Phase 3. The details were left up to Feigie, but the conflict and over arching theme was all Gunn. Bucky was supposed to be who the mantle was passed to, following the progression of the comics, since Phase 1. Edit: Perlmutter was removed as head of development in 2015. He was responsible for building up the brand and the success before that. The success that everything has been riding the coat tails of since.

The writing is awful. They use words common today that are never used in Tolkien's works. They attempt to sound profound, but it's gibberish. I've seen better soap opera dialogue and writing. Hell, half the time that's what it feels like. A bad soap opera. If you think this is good dialogue, try reading Tolkien's actual works. The difference is immediate. They've stolen lines and speeches from other, more modern day movies and been called out on it. "Give me the meat and give it to me raw" is not something Tolkien would ever right in the context it was given. It's taken directly from the movies where Gollum has killed rabbits and Sam is telling him to give them to him to prepare because he's concerned Gollum will poison them. There, it makes sense. In no way does someone not liking it interfere in your enjoyment. Yet you demand others conform to your poor taste and refrain from judging something they've seen differently than you, and then you're the one claiming someone else has a bias. Drinker isn't saying you have to agree. He's telling you his opinion, but to you he shouldn't dare have one.

@ImAgentK He passed it to Bucky first in the comics. Before Disney bought it. They passed it to Falcon in 2015 in the comics specifically to pass it to him in the movies. They do that so idiots like you can go "they did it in the comics." Disney owns and controls BOTH. Edit: Marvel movies went from "Hey, this is a cool story in the comics. Let's make it into a movie." To "We're thinking of doing this in a movie. Put it in the comics." That's why both suck now.

Our first visit to Disney World was the year of a million dreams. Every year they'd do a theme that centered around the visitors experience inside the park. Now the themes are the visitors doing all the work for other visitors. It's taking photos, posting them online, and they project them onto the castle at night. Wow. The year of a million dreams were staff members going around the parks setting up little scenarios and giving out things to visitors that participated. Including a night in the castle. The whole StarWars area is a bust because they insist on using the sequel characters that nobody likes. They've shelved the revision of Epcot and can't remove stuff that points to old Disney fast enough. The park experience is a shell of what it was and costs twice as much.

@xX_Pokeman_Xx It would have been referred to as another Great War which was what WW I was called. It was renamed WW I after the 2nd war because you can't have two "Great" wars. It's not where the wars took place, but the countries that allied together to fight against each other stretched across the world. UK and her commonwealth countries (Canada, Australia, India, etc), US (later), Norway, China, etc. Versus Germany, Japan, Russia, and Italy. The battlefield wasn't global, but the number of countries involved was. Multiple countries vs multiple countries. It's was the pacts that caused WW I aka the Great War because the invasion triggered multiple countries to join and then that caused multiple other countries to join thus resulting in a large portion of the world's countries to be in a war with each other even if they never invaded each other.

@princessmarlena1359 Freddy lives in your dreams so him never really dying makes sense and Chucky is a doll and that's easily recreated. Jason was "killed" in every movie but never died so that's in line with that movie's world. Even StarWars had it within its world, but whoever wrote those movies didn't have enough creativity/talent to weave it's discovery into the previous movies to set it up properly so they went with "somehow".

@abeartheycallFozzy That wasn't the line. That was the TV, general audience approved line dubbed over the original. A lot of movie lines were flubbed when they did that to them. It's the equivalent of what sensitivity readers are doing to old books today.

@zarrstrudeltributemaker314 There's no "magic" in StarWars. Jesus. They're not space sorcerers. The audience isn't supposed to "pick one". That's the job of the writers who didn't really bother to explain it. Cloning, as per the prequels, doesn't remove the consciousness of the person being cloned. So no, just going "cloning" doesn't work. There's no established way within the StarWars universe to move your consciousness from one body to another. Which means they needed to create one. They couldn't be bothered so we ended up with garbage. They've already admitted the sequels weren't planned out and each movie was them just winging it so trying to tell me to just swallow the garbage they served just because they served it to me isn't going to fly. Keep coping that the precious company you're staning for sucks. It doesn't change facts like the newly discovered fact that all but the first one lost money.

@scottyhehehe5367 They never explained it. Clones had their own consciousness. They weren't empty vessels. Being able to transfer your consciousness to something else wasn't established within the StarWars universe. If Palatine attempting to explain it using the tired movie trope of the villain explaining his master plan as he's about to kill the hero in some extremely long way that he easily escapes "as the movie unfolds", sure I guess. Unfortunately none of it made sense within the rules previously established in the universe and instead completely contradicted the lore.

@mizu7662 That made sense to me. The Jedi ask the force. So when they die they ask the force if they can join it. The ultimate submission. There's a difference in twisting it's power and becoming one with it. Revan was grey as was Quigon so him not being able to force ghost doesn't make sense I agree.

@mattypaul87 Why make back "some" money, have another flop in a line of what you know are going to be flops when you can write it off and get all the money back without another embarrassing flop. It wasn't sold yet for distribution, the CW show was horrible and would be what people would look at coming up to it, the directors and writer had no successes to their names, etc. 61% is bad and any movie not already under distribution contracts would get this treatment. It's just rare for a movie to be that far along without those contracts. Edit: The CW show was from different owners. Zaslav ended the CW when he bought WB. You're trying to act like two different owners are the same.

@franciscodanconia4324 They couldn't can those movies because they'd already been sold for distribution and were under contracts. This movie wasn't and that's why it got pulled. I have no doubt they would have loved to do the same thing to Flash, but it already had contracts attached when they purchased the studio. Birds of Prey was released before they bought it so it's a bit disingenuous to use its test screening scores in comparison with this one when it was two different owners making the decisions.
