@KimChi-iy7jd It used to be adult only in the US. It took 2 years of intensive therapy, 1 year living as the opposite sex, before it would be approved. We were very careful to make sure they were stable enough to handle it and fully aware of how it would impact them going forward. Any other underlying conditions had to be dealt with first. This affirmative care model came from Sweden and was originally called the Swedish model. They have some of the most in depth studies on it in the world. It was basically a big study based on the hypothesis that if we treated it earlier with medication that wasn't previously available it would lower self harm. Those countries have since rolled it all back because studies show it doesn't do that. There's no positive and it only results in harm. Unfortunately it's been a big boon for the medical industry, they now have a patient for life starting as young as 10, so it's not being let go of as easily here. Add in that it fits into an entire ideology also being pushed and you get the sad state the US and Canada are currently in.

If mommy and daddy aren't footing the bill they're taking out loans they'll never payback. Then they'll beg the taxpayer to pay for it.

@bobjohnson1633 The one claiming intersex? Yes ironic. She doesn't understand why it was medically necessary to give her body the hormones it failed to produce on it's on. It would be like a diabetic being upset they were given insulin. I guess she'd, and yes she's a female, rather have weak bones and suffer stunted brain development. Though I'm not sure the latter didn't happen anyway.

@NeoBluereaper Not in their case. It's because there are no standards for entrance anymore. Colleges have figured out if they let in more, they more money because the government will just give the student a loan. Before that, when loans were given based on your ability to repay them, schools had to be more selective to make sure most students had the potential to earn enough money to cover the cost.

It just shows how ignorant they are. 10 year olds don't have the brain development necessary to understand longterm consequences. The one saying they made the decision and should face the consequences is also crazy.

The only time I saw him interrupt was when they were going off topic and doing whataboutism. That absolutely should be interrupted because it derails the conversation which is the point of it. That's not "making a point". It's a tactic to try to get onto the tiny exceptions to score a "point" that because exceptions, like intersex, exist that magically makes it all fine.

The one trying to say she knows all about that because she had a hormone deficiency shows even more how little any of them truly understand what they're talking about.

It's not really when they're taught the trauma of just going through puberty should be avoided. I guess they want an androgynous, stunted brain development human future.

@briannellewellyn6844 Going to reply to that. First off, not all. Secondly practitioners have always seen things differently than researchers. Unfortunately researchers decide "approved treatment" that insurance companies cover. They also set the standards that will see licenses removed if not followed. 1 patient complaint that they're not doing as they "should" and all the education is wasted as everything is taken away. Old school ones, for the most part, aren't into this ideology stuff. The newer ones coming out of the institutions should be avoided. What's going on now is against the very principles psychology is based on. The point was to help someone resolve issues that kept them from being able to function and be productive within society.

@Jordi_Llopis_i_Torregrosa96 There are no standards anymore to enter college. When I went you had to have at least a B average and score high on one of the standardized tests or an entrance exam. Now you just apply for a loan from the government that's always approved. Universities are no longer incentivized to make sure most of their students will be able to get a good enough job to pay for their education like before the government took over loans. Now it's more bodies=more money. That's the incentive. Edit: About 95+% of my son's graduating class attended college. We had a program that pays tuition for everyone that graduates. The first couple of years it required a 2.5 GPA. They lowered it because not many students were using it. Now it's pretty much anyone. They have to maintain a 2.0 in college to keep it. The vast majority lose it after the first year because they can't do the work.

The men are so much more respectful than the "women" and women are supposed to mature faster. That one young black man has at least one good teacher. Edit: SOME of the men, but as a whole they were better.

@dreamweaver1603 As a girl that had it when young, I understand the desire. I'm so thankful this wasn't available and even if it was my parents wouldn't have allowed it. I had precocious puberty. Started developing at 8. Yes, it's very traumatic for girls in particular. Puberty is for them when it's normal. I wanted to be a boy because I wanted it to stop. Everything was uncomfortable and had to change. I couldn't carry things the same anymore, couldn't walk the same, and couldn't play the same. It was like overnight BAM! my life was turned upside down. I came out of it between 14 and 15 and haven't had any issues since. I think women should inform their daughters better and instead of just saying "you'll get used to it", discuss how they felt so the girl will really understand what she's feeling is pretty normal and it does get better. This why the explosion of cases is occurring in girls. They're being told if you're just uncomfortable in your body that means you're trans. That if you ever think "I wish I was a boy" it means you're trans. When all those things are perfectly normal feeling during that stage.

I had a lit professor tell us Romeo and Juliet wasn't a tragedy but was a parable that children should obey their parents. Imagine if all her students went around demanding that now be the official narrative around that play. That's these students.

I've said the same thing several times. There are so many things we can look back on and see playing out again.
