  4. This couldn't be more timely. There's a group where we recently moved to in Oklahoma that are supposed to be just a gathering for the LGBT in the area. When me and my son met them (he's gay) they swore they aren't political and aren't activists. In a recent exchange, a couple were talking with a teacher about starting an LGBTQ+ club at one of the schools here. Thank goodness enough in the group pushed back and said no. I had to explain to my son why it's a bad thing. I asked him if there was a straight club for kids to talk about their sexuality? Of course not because school and teachers shouldn't be discussing that with children. That if those kids wanted to meet up after school somewhere and hangout together, there's nothing stopping them, but that the school or teachers shouldn't ever be involved. My son still thinks it's good intentions behind it, but I don't think so. I smelled the activist real quick at the first meeting. She kept saying "ally" and wanted to put stickers in the windows of LGBTQ+ "friendly" businesses. She's the current head of the board for the non profit they started. She's not young either. I'd put her in her late 50s to early 60s. It's the younger ones and the ones my age, in our 40s, that are pushing against her. I'm staying involved basically to help keep her inline and also just incase she gets enough to support her so I can sound the alarm. I'm not letting this get a foothold on this community as long as I can breathe. There are others in the group that feel the same as me who are LGBTQ+. They are trying to get her removed from the board as soon as they can. Edit: I'm posting this so everyone understands how easily this happens. They name the club something other than what it really is which puts it a secret from the start. The school isn't really aware. Tim is wrong blaming the parents. The entire thing is set up to be very secretive and the kids are told they are in danger if they are found out. The kids then aren't just protecting themselves, but everyone else in the club depends on them keeping silent. It's done like that because the adults involved know what they're doing is wrong so they manipulate the kids.

  461.  @trash.heap.collective  I had pre-eclampsia with both my pregnancies. Do you know the cure? Giving birth. Either way the baby has to come out. Dead or alive is completely irrelevant because it's the hormones causing the high blood pressure. They don't reduce until several days after giving birth. Meaning, there's no medical reason to terminate the pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia doesn't occur until the baby is near viability or most commonly midway through the 3rd trimester. There's no way to predict it will occur before it does so a doctor or nurse claiming you'll get it so you need to terminate is bs. My first pregnancy was high risk from the start because my cervix wasn't tightening like it should risking him just falling out. My pre-eclampsia didn't happen until 3 weeks to my due date. My second was high risk once pre-eclampsia showed during the 8th month. Even then, you have time before you risk going toxic. I was induced 3 weeks after my blood pressure first was high and was fine. I didn't even need to be induced with the first. I was however given blood pressure medication during labor during the first because it was getting dangerously high. Perfectly fine as long as you aren't breastfeeding. You have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry, but your friends first mistake was going to Planned Parenthood instead of an OB where they'd be given every possible scenario including how likely anything bad would happen instead of just generic "very risky." With my first everything that could be done was laid out to me clearly. Every possible medical intervention to save it and the odds of it being successful. Including what would be done if attempts were unsuccessful if I got pregnant again to ensure success the next time. Edit: Nobody walks into PP without already having decided their choice. So saying that's where you're friend went spoke volumes. Those looking to try if at all possible go to pregnancy centers.

  476. I'm seeing some people defending the banks for what happened in 2008. Yes the government told them to give loans to some even though they were higher risk. That's not what caused the problem. The removal of regulations let the banks give everyone and anyone a high risk loan and they happily did. It's called predatory lending. The bank would qualify you for a certain amount of money based on a flexible rate loan. This allowed people to qualify for more than they could afford if interest rates went up. A home loan is for minimum 15 years, but most are 30 years. The odds of interest rates increasing at some point in that time period is high. So when interest rates went up, they had all you had paid into your loan up to that point and now also get to take and sell your house as well. It wasn't really high risk for the bank, it was only high risk to you. Unfortunately a lot of people did that and Tim explained how they hid it from the public. I bought a house then and they pushed that loan hard. The difference is we had already negotiated a price for the home before we went to the bank and I refused everything except a fixed rate loan because I fully understood the potential for the other ones. This narrative that the "big mean government" forced the "poor defenseless banks" to give those loans is garbage. The banks were making out like bandits until it all came crashing down. Most of that, like the bailouts, went into bankers pockets in bonuses. I'm surprised so many seem to think the government scratching the big guy's back and the media lying to you is new. It's been standard practice for a very long time. Edit to add: The regulations still aren't fixed. At least they weren't under Obama and now Biden is pushing for those loans again. Be careful if you're purchasing something long term after that.

  479. I've got to correct Tim on Juneteenth. It's not when slavery ended. Texas was not the last state to have slaves. Entering Texas was the last of the Confederate states to be officially taken. The Emancipation Proclamation only was for the Confederacy who were no longer under US rule so it meant nothing. The passing of the amendment after the end of the war ended slavery because 4 states that stayed in the US still had legal slavery. They freed their slaves after the amendment and the government compensated them for the loss of their slaves. That was the end of slavery in the US. Juneteenth is revisionist history because it was only EVER a local celebration, not a national one. So we're now celebrating as a national holiday the day slavery ended in the Confederate States. Technically it didn't end even after the amendment because then the government had to negotiate with the Native tribes that still had them to free them, such as in Oklahoma and other territories at the time, but then you get into the were they more a sovereign territory or not issue. As for your two cases, they both deserve serious time. She's a lawyer which makes her crime particularly egregious. She took an oath when she was accepted into the BAR, she planned it, she handed out explosives to other people making them participants in her act of terror, and still shows no remorse for her actions. She should get minimum 10 years without probation and disbarred. The Capital case he should absolutely get 7 years. I know it's not a popular opinion, but he did some horrific things. He helped that officer be shot by his own stun gun multiple times, which could have easily killed him. It's a lethal weapon. Not as lethal as a firearm, but still lethal. He also encouraged and got his own child to participate in the beating of the officer which is disturbing. So I think he got what he deserves. Had it not been a heat of the moment and been planned, then he'd deserve the same sentence as I said for her. Edit: The fact she's trying to claim anxiety and depression as an excuse for her actions is ludicrous and she knows that as a lawyer. She wasn't mentally insane so no amount of mental illness short of that gets you criminally excused for your behavior. Even then you're sent a psych hospital for years.

  480. On the date nights weren't a thing and marriages were successful she's 100% wrong on and this is why people need to stop pretending she does research or knows what she's talking about. While definitely not called that, adult alone time absolutely was a thing and a priority in every type of civilization until recently. It got phased out because modern society values parental interaction with children over adult interactions once a child is born and because the dual income family dynamic makes it difficult to prioritize adult time on with giving attention to children. Children were seen and not heard as a rule until modern times. That means their lives rotated around the parent's world. Unlike today where the parent's world revolves around the child. They absolutely spent a lot of time away from their children. Not alone because it was usually a social gathering focused on adults interacting with each other. The children would all be sent to a different area of the house or outside under the supervision of the children on the cusp of adulthood. The children stayed there until the parents came and got them which could even be the next day. They were not to interrupt the adults unless someone was dying. Everything else the older children took care of. This was true in tribal life as well. It's only recently that that's changed so going back to something that prioritizes adult interactions on occasion instead of only prioritizing the children is a step back to recreating that balance that was, even according to Pearl, more successful. Edit: Why someone gives credence to a woman that's only had 1 boyfriend, never married or even asked, and pushing 30 as some type of expert is beyond me. If her advice was sound, why isn't it working for her? Because it's bs.

  494.  @Aaron-fo1sy  She shouldn't be monetized on social media. When someone enters office they have to divest from everything else. If she's making a lot of money from social media that will influence her decisions when it comes to them. Speaking fees has long been a way for large corporations and lobbying groups to funnel money to politicians for favorable decisions. Just like Congress has made it legal for them to engage in insider trading. They've made themselves exempt from it. Book deals too is how money is laundered to them. They write a book and large donors make large orders. That's why Bernie was able to buy his 3rd house and finally be a millionaire after he bowed out for Hillary. His book deal was his payoff. We know this because honest politicians like Thomas Massey aren't shy about spilling the beans about how it works in DC. He refuses to engage in any of that stuff. He's explained multiple times why when someone enters Congress even if they're just a regular person doing it for the right reasons they become almost immediately corrupted. Edit: If you want to know who's honest and who's benefiting themselves from their position, look at how they answer if Congress should be barred from trading while in office because they control the bills that impact companies and their stock prices. They know what's coming before anyone else. If they say yes, they're honest. If they say no, they're using their position to enrich themselves. AOC says no. That she "needs" to own multiple houses. She also committed campaign violations by paying her boyfriend with campaign donations. You're either young or just became politically aware because everything I typed has been known for decades.

  508. Yes and no. If the market was functioning as it should, this would have affected little. The world economy is in the shitter, yet Wallstreet has been fine even gaining. Now why is that? If the market was working as it should, it would reflect the real economic situation. The reason it doesn't is because it's broken. People would not be legitimately investing in new companies in the current economic climate because risk of failure right now is high. Even in new tech startups because of the censorship and that Big Tech is intentionally destroying any competition. Yet " investors" have been making billions in the market while the rest of us are losing our jobs and far too many are now food insecure. Like I said, the system is broken. It's broken because they aren't really "investing" in companies anymore. They are investing in other investors and betting the other investors will like a particular stock. That's it. It's all just a scheme and game of rich people trying to manipulate each other and who can mess with the normies enough to change the trajectory of a stock so they can make more money. Because a very large group of normal just took a crap in their sandbox, they know they don't have the control. That means they lost faith in being able to continue to game the system which makes them think longer and more carefully about investing because it's increased their risk. Contrary to what they are saying, that's a good thing, because that's how it's supposed to work. Edit to add: They leveraged more stock than what exists at 140%. Unless the board allowed their stocks to be leveraged, that's illegal. They got caught with their pants down, and THEIR actions almost crashed the market. Blame should be to them because THEY created the risk.

  769. You're making a lot of assumptions about a court case you clearly didn't read. The judgment is that they can't have female only workout areas in a gym open to both. This has nothing to do with anything else. It's not changing areas, bathrooms, saying a gym can't be female only, and all the other assertions you made. It's a very limited ruling. It also only applies in that state, not everywhere in the US. It has no bearing on if a female only app is legal within the US. As for allowing private businesses to segregate male or female only, I'm fine with it and always have been. There is a biological difference between male and female. There is not when talking about race, religion, etc. If we accept your premise that you're either against all segregation or for all segregation, then that would mean every religious building would have to cater to every other religion and practice them within that space. That would send the religious to feel they can only practice their religion in secrecy to keep it intact and not influenced or taken over by another one. It would also mean Women's shelters that help women escape an abusive spouse will have to close because they won't be allowed to bar the abuser from entering. The reason segregation of the races was ended is because there is no biological difference between them. The reason it's allowed when it comes to biological sex is because there is. This is probably one of your worst takes, mainly because you didn't research the court decision you pointed out that you think somehow is relevant to the female only app. It isn't even remotely relevant to it because it's about segregation within a business that allows all.

  773.  @Moneyman-33  I am not a big Trump supporter and have no issue with vaccines as long as it's not forced. He did try to end lockdowns several times, but governors have that power over their state, not the President. I do NOT like that he didn't pardon Assange and that he should have addressed 230. He put in legislation to make it easier to fire federal employees, which is extremely difficult because they are unionized. You seem to be pissed because you believe the President has more power then they do. Those in the administration have said he had maybe a dozen people that actually supported him. Everyone else was openly bragging about how they were doing everything they could to stop anything he wanted. Even going so far as to lie about troop numbers and movements to the Commander in Chief of the military. I put blame where it is rightfully deserved. I don't like the legislation about bump stocks either, but I do understand the knee jerk reaction because I'm not devoid of reason or unable to view things objectively. Just like the Brady Bill was a knee jerk reaction so too was this. I'm aware he spent too much time listening to the establishment RHINOs because he honestly didn't know better, but I appreciate the times he pushed back on both sides. This idea of wanting a perfect President can never and will never be reality because people aren't perfect. He accomplished far more than I expected and listened to the people more than any president in my lifetime. I'll take that over an establishment crony that is constantly talking out of both sides of their mouth and are nothing but empty campaign promises. This idea that a leader should do everything you want is no different than the left demanding that society bend to their will.

  779.  @thetomdillengerescapeplan3525  Explain how the US system was so much different than that in the beginning either. We were not united as we think of it post Lincoln. Loyalty was to your state and the federal government was last place behind family and God. They had completely different laws, different currencies, and imposed tariffs on each other. I'm from what's now called the Powhatan Confederacy. We had divorce, we had a permanent capital, each family was responsible for growing their own food (so personal property and responsibility), we had cots and beds, and many of the same creature comforts the settlers had. We even taught them how to take care of themselves and were extremely polite at first. We hoped once they learned how to live, they'd leave for a different area. Unfortunately language barriers prevented good communication. This idea that we all lived liked the nomadic plains tribes is completely false. Just as false as the left putting us on some Communist/socialist pedestal claiming we didn't believe in ownership and private property. The different were tolerated within our society and we happily welcomed huwhite people and freed/escaped slaves into our tribe. So we had divorce which could be done by the man or woman, tolerated and found a place for those that didn't fit into our norms rather than reject them, and didn't give a crap what color you were or where you came from. Things that took the US centuries to achieve. So yes, we were more advanced in some ways. That's not including that the founders incorporated some Native tribes forms of government into their system and that our methods of forest fire prevention and farming are still used today. Edit: Since Europeans claim the advances of every European no matter where they lived, then you can add a far superior understanding and mapping of the solar system and solar events. Even though the Americas were settled by humans about 10,000 years after Europe, it was only a few hundred years behind technologically wise.

  827. Welcome to war Tim. Communications from the opposite side is always removed not because they are hiding the truth or anything like that. It's to protect morale. The last thing either side wants is their citizens believing the propaganda from the other side because that's it's purpose, to demoralize the opposition. Yes Putin will remove any organization that doesn't follow what his regime dictates them to say. It's been done every single time he does this. During Crimea the propaganda RT was putting out about how evil Ukrainians are, it caused some of their most popular talking heads to quit on air because they couldn't take the blatant lies they were being forced to tell. I'm surprised he allowed "independent" media at all, but most likely it's the opposition that's allowed to exist to keep the dissidents from exploding. Even they have openly spoken out against this invasion which is extremely unusual. Their purpose is to be a valve and at least appear like he's not a dictator to the outside world, but to back him in anything major. Edit: As for the neo bad guys from Germany, you have to understand the history. That goes back to WWII when much of what we consider Ukraine was part of Poland. I believe he's saying liberalism has failed as the left here uses it. That because liberalism allows the existence of bad ideologies, it's a failure. That true freedom causes dangerous ideas to exist instead of being squashed and destroyed under the boot. He couches his speeches to intentionally contain ideas that's in the West. Hence the "anti fascist" rally. He's appealing to the far left because they want a revolution.
