If you go out picking blackberries, watch out for jeggers aka redbugs. Those are nasty. Tiny little red bugs that burrow under your skin and are hard to get rid of. Nothing tastes better than food fresh from a garden/farm. The stuff you buy in the store is picked early so it ripens during shipping rather than from the plant and it's varieties that were created to ship well rather than primarily based on flavor. The difference in taste is astounding. I've got 3 Better Boy tomatoes that'll be ripe and ready to eat in a couple of days and I can't wait. I highly recommend Bradley heirloom ones if you can find them. They are a pink variety and they taste a bit like watermelon. They are one of the few that makes you remember it's really a fruit. Sweet instead of acidic. Edit: They originated from Bradley Arkansas. They became popular and they got crossbreed into being a shipper and lost a lot of their unique flavor. That's why it's better to get the heirloom variety.
