  1. The reason for substitute teacher shortages is because the Teacher's Union is requiring that they be teachers that have passed the Praxis. You're limited as to how much you can depending on if you're licensed. When I did it 10 years ago, that wasn't required unless you filled in longterm for a teacher that was going to be gone for an extended period. When I did it, I could work 5 days a week if I wanted because they are used that much and I strictly did elementary. Now I can only do it 30 days in a school year because I haven't taken the Praxis 1. If I do that, it's a fairly simple test, then I can a whopping 60 days. They created this problem intentionally. The teacher's Union is horrible and needs to go, and I'm pro Union.
