@TheObsesedAnimeFreaks So harm children to maybe hopefully somebody that's "born that way" (which only accounts for around 1% of offenders of child sex crimes) doesn't in the future? That makes zero sense. How about we prosecute EVERYONE that harms children. There's zero evidence that what you're claiming is even true because those studies are done on people that have already been convicted of those acts. A certain demographic within those convicted never are in danger of reoffending anyway so how can those studies in anyway be accurate in how to prevent offense in the first place? They can't. We haven't ever had success in preventing reoffense from those prone to it. It didn't spike in the 80s. Reports rose because it was being taken seriously. Add in that during that period psychologists were claiming repressed memories were real from hypnosis when they were implanted false memories. That lead to a massive number of false prosecutions. Then you have laws added that changed the statute of limitations which added to the increase in cases. The amount it's occurring per percentage of the population has NOT increased. Successful prosecutions have. Nothing like twisting facts to fit a narrative you've created in your head. Just like with child abductions, you think because it's reported more often that equals happening more often.

I see far too many people trying to excuse p3dophila, the scientific term unlike MAP which was created by the activist organization associated with these types. I see people claiming MAP is scientific because I guess they don't understand scientific names migrate into everyday speech. If we have to change the name because of that, we need a new one for gravity because everybody uses that so it obviously isn't "scientific" anymore. For those claiming we can fix them, I'm glad I wasn't this naive when I went into psychology. Every type of therapy that has ever existed has been tried by different countries on this group of people. None of it has ever stopped them from reoffending. Aversion therapy, control therapy, exposure therapy (not new like some are currently trying to act like), castration, chemical castration, etc. Nothing works. So the fact that people are willing to risk the most vulnerable in society because sometime at some point they might be able to be helped is disturbing. Psychology isn't just about figuring out how to help people with problems. It's understanding the limitations and knowing what society needs to be protected from. The part has currently been abandoned by far too many in the field and it needs to be remembered.
