@Prophezora It's called absentee ballot and they've been a thing for a very long time. They've always been for those traveling or disabled. A legitimate reason for not being able to physically go vote. They're requested well in advance with a cut-off date. Not just printed and handed out like mail in ballots. They're a completely different thing. There's no excuse for being as ignorant as a lot of people are in this thread.

@Backmarker81 It sort of was. There was no early voting and nothing but an absentee ballot available for those physically unable to go to the polling place election day. It was legally required that you be given time off during the day to go vote. Since it's been expanded to 2-3 weeks instead of one day, it's no longer observed. It's funny how many people don't know all this is extremely new.

The fire could have nothing to do with the election. Someone put a letter in there, decided it would be bad if the other person received it, panicked, and did it. I've seen crazier stuff.
