The oil refineries are pumping it out as fast as they can. The problem is, oil production is low and due to Covid shutdowns many small refineries went belly up. They are also selling it overseas rather than making sure the supply stays in the US (they being the government). It's going to the war in Ukraine and Europe. So the government is blaming the oil companies for things they are doing because they know the population already views oil companies as bad and evil.

You're really trying to make the argument that the refineries haven't adjusted for the increase in almost 40 years? There was a graph that Tim showed detailing the supply over the years. It's the lowest in over 10 years. So your theory is there was a sudden massive increase in diesel truck purchases during the lockdowns when people weren't working because the supply was fine then and a couple of years before.

@editedforprivacy207 No on the oil production. They can't get more when they are blocked from drilling in new areas. Oil leases are down as are drilling permits and exploration ones. Oil companies are pumping as fast as they can while the price is high and every refinery is making fuel at the max rate they can safely. Any extra oil or fuel will have to imported which at the rate Biden is pissing off oil rich countries, won't be anytime soon. Edit: Who'd have thought saying your going to destroy the fossil fuel industry would piss countries that rely on it for their economy.

Mob rule. What you described is what Democrats suggest by doing away with the Electoral College. So you're in favor of a group getting together and deciding you don't get rights anymore? Direct democracy is only good if you're in the group that's the majority.

Small refineries went out of business during the lockdowns. Are you going to secure the loans and funding to reopen them and get them back in operational condition? No subsidies anymore to help from the government because Biden ended them. Who's going to give anyone money to open a business the government has declared war on? Where are they going to get the oil to even process because oil production has been drastically decreased? It's easy to just say something should happen when you have zero understanding of what that actually entails. Edit: Most small refineries are independently owned. They are not run by large oil companies. There are hundreds of small oil companies. I lived in an oil boom town. There were at least 10-20 small companies that owned oil wells and 3 small refineries all owned by different small companies.
