@trock7542 You seem to intentionally be obtuse. If the sex is forced that means the sperm being introduced into her body was forced. That force caused a pregnancy so the pregnancy was forced. That's what people mean when they say she was forced to become pregnant. It was forced upon her through no fault or action of her own. That comes with massive physical, emotional, and mental problems she has to deal with which will take years. Forcing her by law to continue the pregnancy that was forced upon her would cause further damage. So to mitigate that damage, an abortion is offered, not forced because she's already experienced enough force to last her a lifetime. It's no different than a life of the mother case morally. In each of those instances, it's about harm. Edit: It's morally wrong to compound an act of force with more acts of force.

@perpetuallymediocre If it dates back before we had modern capabilities, how do we know for sure it was ectopic? There have been cases where it implants in the abdominal cavity and survives, but it's extremely rare. This is a good example of why we don't set policies based on the extremes. Just like there's a handful of cases that a 10 year old gave birth and her and baby survived, but that's not the normal outcome in these cases. Another example is cancer. People do survive rare forms of aggressive cancer at around 1%. That doesn't mean you tell the family and patient they are going to live because there's a 99% chance they won't. Edit: Despite your mess at the end trying to distance yourself from claiming ectopic pregnancies shouldn't be terminated, even bringing up the extremely rare (less than 1%) cases of survival shows that's exactly what you're doing. You don't base decisions on the less than 1%, you base them on the over 99%.

Tim and his hypotheticals. He doesn't know jurisdiction, he doesn't understand the majority of the right doesn't want to force their views on everyone. They simply don't want it where they are. You of course have the extreme that wants a federal ban, but they aren't the majority. He say the right just wants to be left alone, and ignore that when it suits his hypotheticals that cause his civil war. As for the father not wanting the mother to have an abortion, it's already in case law. The father has no rights. I can't believe he thinks in 50 years that hasn't come up before. You can't arrest someone for committing a crime outside your jurisdiction. Otherwise you could arrest people if they live in a state that marijuana is illegal and go to a state it isn't. You can question pro-life all you want, it doesn't change that while they don't want it happening, they aren't responsible for what other people do. They just want a bit of control where they are. Edit: People like to bring up the right during the 80s. What they don't understand or know is they didn't want to ban music or movies from everywhere. They just didn't want it in their area.

@RunnerBeanzDad I had something similar only the opposite for weight. I had preeclampsia so I had an ultrasound to check when it would be safe to deliver. He was at 5 lbs. They were going to induce me in 2 weeks and estimated he'd be 6 lbs. I went into labor the weekend before I was to be induced and he weighed right at 5 lbs. The best I can figure is like everything else, there are exceptions and the baby doesn't grow in the final few weeks and just continues organ development.

@jsan2548 Just because there are a handful of instances throughout recorded history of a child that age surviving a live birth, doesn't make it the usual outcome. The usual outcome has been death of the mother and baby. If we're going by rare instances of exceptions to the norms then ectopic shouldn't be terminated because a couple of times they've implanted in the abdominal cavity and everyone survived. So we'll condemn the 99% to death on the chance they might be the less the 1%.

I disagreed when they said it wouldn't be a life of the mother case. They said that because the record is a 5 year old. That doesn't change the fact that at 10 the likely outcome is death of the mother and baby.
