  1. It's nice I guess that Putin doesn't believe in MAD. Unfortunately it's US policy. If a nuke is launched, it WILL result in us launching ours back. That's the deterrent, not just having them. It's so the people in these countries understand if their leader fires, they are dead. That's to prevent them from putting into power or allowing someone to remain in power that will use them. Edit: I love when people who didn't experience the height of the Cold War talk about what will happen if they're used.
