Correct. Everyone is scrambling to take on long term loans because as everything else increases, those will remain stable. You're locking in a price for the foreseeable future that won't fluctuate. As inflation rises, income will have to increase. That means your $500 house payment will take less out of your overall income while rent will increase to keep pace.

@cl5193 It's the same in where we're moving to in Oklahoma. We live 5 hours away and by the time we could even call about a house, it was sold. They were being bought by real estate agents to flip. We managed to get one $20,000 below asking and $1,000 below appraisal. They threw in all the stainless steel appliances and it's a luxury home with a saltwater in ground pool. It was in the middle of renovation so we have to spend around $5,000 to finish it, but still was a great deal. It would sell for $60,000 more when we finish it. They are out there, but you've got to be willing to put a bit into it. It was impossible to find a renovated or new home in a decent neighborhood with our budget.
