  1. That's normal unless the man is inheriting a business or something. A man must leave his mother. The woman, especially if there's a plan to have children, needs more emotional support than a man does. Women want security and that includes being near family. Who's side of the family is more involved in a couples children's lives? Usually the woman's. Do you know his family dynamics well enough to judge which family will be more supportive of the couple? I bet you don't, but they do. It's good to be near family if you're going to have one of your own to help when times get tough and usually that's going to be the woman's family because there's different expectations for a male child than a female one. I've been married 25 years with 2 grown sons and you sound young and ignorant of what achieving that takes. Being near family is one of the reasons marriages lasted and they don't today. A good family support system can be the difference between a successful marriage and a failed one. Most men aren't equipped to meet all the emotional needs of their spouse and shouldn't have to, but if she doesn't have it anywhere else it all falls on him.
