@TroySavary Except the showrunners have said the opposite of what you're claiming. That Sauron is a Walter White type character which was a character that was pushed into things due to his circumstances, not because he was originally a bad person. Same with the other one they said, Tony Soprano. He was a result of his family and the circumstances he was born into. That he's not evil, but complex. They intended to make him, and continue to make him, sympathetic. It makes zero sense what you're claiming because he didn't even forge the rings in the show which was his motivation in the books. So he had no reason and you're ignoring that his offer to Galadriel was so she could anchor him to goodness. That with her he would be able to resist. So no, sorry, that's not what the show did at all. You're trying to fill in the plot holes the show left instead of viewing it as it is. Edit: The show clearly setup her rejection as why he turned back to evil whole heartedly. You can ignore, but by claiming it's good already says you've ignored a lot about it. It was the most inconsistent show I've ever seen get a full season.

@musashi939 Yes the hundreds of thousands of worldwide fans of Tolkien's work expects a show about his work to actually contain his work. The horror. That's so hardcore and "cult" like. How dare we. The show absolutely sucked. It was all over the place and couldn't even stick to the lore they created much less Tolkien's. For example, according to Don Lemonlas Elves don't have healers because they heal so quickly they don't require them. So instead they are artisans. Then Galadriel takes Sauron to the Elven healers that don't exist. Then there the mithril thing and the "myth" Gil-Galad tells. Except the show established he and Galadriel were alive when those events took place so it wouldn't be an ancient or old myth to them. It would be something they remembered happening. There are lots of such instances in the show where they claim something only to later do the opposite.

That's not true. Numenor attacked Sauron and captured him because his orc army fled at the sight of them (he planned it). While captured he was able to corrupt Pharazon further because many were already jealous they weren't immortal like the Elves. He convinced them to turn to worshipping Melkor/Morgoth to obtain it. He was put on the council of the King. He created the Mouth of Sauron at that time too. He then convinced the Numenorens to attack Valinor which is when Eru made the world round which caused the wave that destroyed Numenor. So he was already the Dark Lord and the rings had been forged when Numenor fell. Edit: He lost the ability to shapeshift after his defeat when his ring was cut off because he'd put so much of his power into it.
