@armondtanz I'm Gen X. That wasn't a thing. Cruising meant getting in your car driving the strip. Which generally included trying to catch a girl's attention. "I'm going to cruise down to the convince store. Does anyone wanna come with me?" Taking a "cruise" just meant you were going somewhere. Usually by foot. Often shoes were referred to as cruisers. That may have been some joke in your little group as a way to cope, but it wasn't a generational thing. Edit: The term "gay" usually meant lame. We'd use the slur for an actual gay person. So you misinterpreted making fun of people that had to walk everywhere because they couldn't afford a car with what you're claiming.
