Washing of feet is a show of humility. I’m not sure why the name Mary Magdalene got attached to every female sinner in the New Testament or every single Mary, but there are at least 3 different women named Mary referenced in it. Edit: The real “Mary Magdalene” was the Mary he cast demons out of. She was a wealthy fish merchant and helped fund Jesus and the disciples. The Mary he was likely married to, if He was, was Mary sister of Lazarus. That’s the Mary that went to the tomb after 3 days. The prostitute isn’t named in that story.

Most non profit organizations make far more than any single Church yet are not taxed. 99% of them spend money on lavish parties and salaries for their board. Only a small fraction of Churches come close to that. Most are small and directly support their communities with food, helping pay utilities, helping provide school supplies, clothing, and counseling services free. Sorry but no single organization does what a single small Church does for a community.

Everyone forgets he flipped tables and chased people out of the temple with a weapon. To pretend He was all peace and love is a gross misrepresentation of Him. Same with “turn the cheek” is constantly misinterpreted to mean be a doormat.

@edvaedan9161 Because it was customary as away to invite them in and say “My house is your house”. Since shoes were just sandals, feet get very dirty traveling in the desert. So feet were washed upon entering a floored home. Just like now people remove their shoes. Edit: Seriously imagine trying to clean the sand out of your rugs and everything if you didn’t do that. Normally the host would only do it themselves for someone above them as a show of respect. Otherwise it was done by a servant or female daughter.

He didn’t wash anyone like that feet. He washed the disciples feet who had done that years ago and followed Him faithfully since. It was to show that a leader still is a servant to his followers because that’s who customarily washed guests feet.

@tacticalmattfoley That was never true anyway. Turn the other cheek does not mean to be a doormat. It means to be patient and tolerant to a point. He didn’t say keep turning your cheek. It’s give them a second chance and see if now that their anger is cooled they still continue. Than all bets are off.
