There was a journalist not too long ago that gave an interview and explained why these rich kids became journalists and how it went from being done mainly by people with a working class background to this group. It explains a lot about our journalism today and why it's so bad. People used to do it because they'd read an investigative article that exposed something. They wanted to be that guy. Now they do it so they can rub elbows with politically powerful people, get invited to the parties, the charity events, etc. The last thing they want to do is expose them. They want to be them. So they don't write articles saying bad things about them to make sure they don't get turned out of those circles. They take talking points from the White House to make sure there will be an invitation to big political parties and events in their mail boxes.
