@doesntmatter5857 If you think taking your children to DisneyWorld is the equivalent of parking them in front of a TV, you've never been. Everywhere you eat requires a reservation to make sure it's available when you normally eat. You have to plan it out almost by the second. It's the opposite of what you're painting it to be. Edit: Meet and greet of characters are at different times at different parks you have to know and plan for so they meet who they want, the shows they want to see are in certain parks at certain times. For example if they want to face Darth Vadar you have to get there early and get their name on the list to do it. There's nothing freewheeling about a DisneyWorld vacation with children.

I don't believe anyone said it was like a disaster or necessity. That said, if you flew in and took the shuttle to your resort at Disney, you're pretty much trapped. You can't get a refund or change your flight. Every option is going to drastically increase your cost that you didn't bring money for. So yes, increasing the cost by 200% for food on the 2nd day of a week long vacation is going to put people into debt out of necessity.

It sounds like you never went so I don't understand the "again".

Well, July 4th is their busiest and only slightly less than going at Christmas. You picked the most expensive time. We went off season when it was much cheaper. Always did the meal plan and ordered the most expensive stuff we could. That was staying on site, which I wouldn't do now because they even charge for parking at the resorts now. Including all the perks, it used to be worth it. It's not now because they took all that away. We'd do most of our riding during the 2 hours of magic hours after the parks closed to the public.

Yes it's great! Not true either. There's the racing car ride, the hang glider ride, it's the best for meet and greets, Turtle Talk, etc. I love it during the Food and Wine festival. Garden Grill restaurant is the best.

Disney was always a luxury. Anything beyond basic needs is a luxury. It's what luxury means.

Look and see what that would be today and then you'd have a point. $52 in 1960 would have been a massive amount.

This is true. They intentionally raised prices and cut perks like they did to weed out most of the middle class. They wanted to attract higher end clients. That's why 2 days at the StarWars hotel was $6,000. They didn't factor in there aren't enough higher end people to make it sustainable.

That would $400 for the day in today's money and there's a lot more added to them since then. I'm not saying Disney tickets aren't over priced. They absolutely are, but you can't really directly compare prices to when it was half the size.

Which isn't true. That's a claim Democrat politicians make that has been thoroughly debunked. It's kinda like when Biden claims you could never own a cannon.
