Yes that's true in Canada as well. That's what "affirmative care" is. You can't look for anything causing it so any underlying conditions will be missed and untreated. It's horrible and unethical, but it's now the law in some countries. It's supposed to be based on the Swedish model, which is the world leader in research on it. They've changed their treatment recommendations because this was found to be very harmful, but these few countries are pushing forward instead of changing accordingly.

@TurboSkank That's not "how it should be". It will lead to a lot of misdiagnoses and people going through expensive "treatment" they don't need and have to deal with the complications from it for the rest of their lives. It's well documented that children who suffer from abuse, especially sexual, will blame being the sex they are and want to change it to escape the shame. Advocating for that, instead of for looking for why they feel that way and getting them the correct help and treatment, is insane. Edit: The only reason you could possibly believe that's "good" is if you're trying to hide crimes you've committed against children because that's a good way to never be charged and hoping it drags on past the point of being able to be prosecuted.
