  1. To people going why the books still exist, yes but unfortunately younger people will come across this atrocity. They'll have a complete misunderstanding of what Tolkien wrote and I know I wouldn't want to read the source material for something like this show.

  2. Oh the pulling out his "nerd card" bit is insufferable. Especially when he then goes on to describe "Harfoots" as proto Hobbits when according to Tolkien they are a type of Hobbit. To do that and then use Tolkien's description of darker skinned (which he explained in letters would be Mediterranean so whatever "scholar" they're talking about is irrelevant) just shows they have no respect for the lore. Then the whole " Jesus as a huwhite guy" like everyone is a Christian is especially rich. Sorry, it makes no sense for a Dwarf to be dark skinned because they live below ground and they were made from the stone of the mountains. Also Jackson's movies weren't "lily white". In the Hobbit movie series there were many different races in the human areas. They either didn't watch them or didn't notice because it made sense for them to be there so it didn't break the ability to suspend belief which is required for any fantasy.
