  2. It is offensive. It's basically the n word for Roma. I know because my husband is one. They are treated so much better in the US than in Europe they don't make a big deal of it. They are actually from India orginally but due to their coloring they were called Egyptian when they were enslaved for 500 years in Europe after escaping 500 years of slavery in India. Edit to add: I want to clarify that they are 100% oppressed in Europe. Not like people claim to be here. They are denied citizenship and land ownership in many European countries just because of their race. It's actual laws on the books.
