@kryvian Doesn't matter. They can't just strike if there's no violation of labor laws or if it's not after the current contract runs out. Unions sign a contract with the business that's good for a certain number of years. If labor laws or the current contract isn't being violated by the company they aren't protected just because they are in a Union. My grandfather, father, and husband have all been Union presidents. "I don't like what the company has decided to do in this one instance" isn't a protected reason. It is something that can be brought up at the next contract negotiations though.

@GuMo-gtm Not true. The Unions you are referring to are different than normal ones. Those for government employees are trash. My husband was Union president for many years and helped make sure real discrimination was addressed. The company fired a guy because he became disabled and tried to justify it by saying a data breach happened from his laptop. The Union lawyers, paid for by the Union dues, made sure he got what he deserved. They set up another guy so they could fire him because they didn't like him. Again they settled and he was able to support his family while he found another job. He had the option to go back to his previous job, but obviously he didn't want to.
