The Army tried lying to my son while he was waiting on the Marine recruiter. He was interested in the Navy or Coast Guard. They lied like dogs to him to the point I ended up yelling at them and told him we'd wait outside. Told him he could have any position he wanted when I know there's huge wait lists for anything he'd be interested in. The Marine was honest and even tried to encourage him, as we had been, to get into the Naval Academy because he had the scores and intelligence and had already been approached for one of them. With that he COULD start out in a much better position since he was interested in doing it as a career. I told him flat out no Army because he'd just end up as cannon fodder. Edit: He ended up not joining because he was born in Canada and that would limit how far he could go. He wasn't interested because of ads or games but because my family have served since the Revolution and my husband's father was Canadian Navy when younger.

@elibeeblebrox1084 Because everyone pays income taxes. Counting all governments, it's one of the largest employers. 50% of the population already pays the majority of taxes so if they removed all that, there wouldn't be enough to pay them all.

@charles gee People were asking him to cover the bannings. That's what made him. So it's very weird he refused to. There are still videos being struck down with privacy complaints. The whole thing with Twitter's new trust and safety coming out claiming a court case, that doesn't exist, is why all the bannings. Except that doesn't have anything to do with people getting perma banned for making a joke about her hair or for linking to previous podcasts she was on. That's what people wanted him to address because he's always addressed it. Since Musk took over he's been noticeably silent on it even though people are still getting banned for stupid things and in some cases it's worse than before. Edit: He finally did and claimed to not know she was abusing the reporting system. Total BS but he was hemorrhaging supporters which screws up his algorithm mojo so he had to do something. That's why he went members only chat. It was to pull in enough new members to cover his loses. His super chats had also drastically reduced for 2-3 days. All his, I didn't want to be famous or care about the money, is bs.

You won't be put into service. It's just gathering addresses so recruiters can bug the hell out of you. They could just pay Amazon for their data collection.

There's nothing in them that the Chinese aren't already fully aware of. The tech the government doesn't want seen won't be in public view for at least a decade.

Tim has just learned a valuable lesson why real news publications are all over what their reporters put out. Saying "I don't control them. They say what they want and I just put it up. I'm not going to control them" doesn't save you from a lawsuit when they defame someone. If you're paying them and publishing it, you're responsible.
