  1.  @ecomp3069  Does nothing? Do you think a company just magically works with no supervision? The "fat cat" orders the seeds, negotiates product price with buyers, makes sure all equipment is functioning properly, schedules repairs or purchases new equipment, tests the soil, monitors watering, worked to collect the knowledge needed to grow the crop, and much more. Notice how seeds, equipment, the land, etc are all out of the "fat cats" wallet, not the workers. That person assumes all the risks and the worker assumes none. If you think farming is easy and farmers are rich, you know nothing about it. The majority of farmers work a regular job on top of working the farm because the profits from farming aren't enough to live on. They do it so you don't starve, so stop portraying them as bad or evil. It's already hard to get new people into farming, so if people like you keep pushing this BS, every farm will be owned by big corporations instead of the 75% owned by families that we have now. Edit to add: You clearly didn't watch the video because the worker interviewed said he works beside them often.

  2. My thoughts exactly. Add in we're destroying every way to scientifically track a lot of what we normally do with vaccines, like longterm side effects and any data on natural immunity. Plus trying to coerce those who can't take vaccines, it's not a good look. Then there's the nearly complete ignoring that the majority demographic that's unvaccinated is minorities and people with a PhDs yet the narrative is it's the middle class and a certain party that's holding out. Also add in we're allowing 200,000 + across the southern border every month that aren't vaccinated and most not even tested. They have to start being consistent logical if they want to reduce hesitation.

  3.  @fbcpraise  My doctors tell me it's not safe for people with my condition and not recommended. Then again I can't take any vaccine. That doesn't stop people from trying to shame me and ostracize me from society and toss me into antivaxx in an attempt to force me to take it anyway.

  5.  @Snugggg  That was switched because it was more economical over time. "Clean" energy isn't. It's more expensive, leaves just as big of a carbon footprint as what it's replacing, destroys ecosystems and wildlife at a much higher rate than what we use now (even counting oil spills), and has a much worse ecological impact for mining the minerals and disposal. Why would you invest in something more expensive, less reliable, and more destructive then what it's replacing? Edit: Some uncomfortable truths for you, but all true nonetheless. The reason it destroys the ecosystems and wildlife worse than an oil spill is because life will return where a spill has occurred. The grass and plants won't around solar panels (running off wildlife from the area) and the wind turbines will keep killing massive numbers of birds and insects for as long as one is placed there. The windmills also run off wildlife from the area due to the sound coming from them in the ground. I live in Oklahoma around an area with a lot of them. There is almost no deer population here now because of them.

PBS no longer receives government funding, city and state zoos are run by private donations, as are most libraries, many beaches are private, there are volunteer fire departments so that depends on where you live, I don't see a lot in that list as positives either. A lot of you confuse infrastructure with socialism. Every country has infrastructure, but every country isn't socialist. Just because systems overlap, doesn't mean it belongs to your preferred system. It means it doesn't belong to any specific system. You're listing Medicare and Medicaid and then healthcare separate. Those all fall under healthcare. Unemployment insurance is paid by your employer not your taxes. Every country pays their government workers, so again that's not socialism that's just government as a whole. Public street lighting falls under infrastructure as does sewers. Department of Human services falls under Welfare and government workers. Pretty much this is a list of misinformation and repeated things by listing everything separate and then listing it again as jointly.

  10. Agreed. Almost every study saying they work is based on models or just case rate without any other factor figured in. The ones that say they don't used control groups and real world settings. Plus the positive ones aren't taking into account what type of mask. No study shows a piece of cloth having any significant impact unless you consider less than 10% significant.

  11.  @MelissaR784  That isn't true anymore. A way to use the highest level of dangerous waste as fuel has been found so we can now recycle it. The rest is not really that dangerous. The majority of waste is just everyday objects used by workers in the plant that are very low radiation. Not much higher than background radiation you're exposed to all the time. That and the intermediate level waste can be stored in boreholes created by fracking and retrieved later if need be. A technique to do that was developed last year. So unless you think something being stored 5,000+ feet below the surface is going to impact the environment, it's not an issue. Just because some countries have stopped studying nuclear power and making improvements doesn't mean all have. Edit: Using less radioactive and more easily obtained elements has also shown very promising results in maintaining energy output but creating less waste.

  12. Yes. It was said early on that death rates will increase. Suicide alone almost doubled which is already one of the top killers. Drug overdoses, homicide, etc. You'd need to factor out all those to get anywhere near the excessive deaths that can be put on the virus. I know one early study said that most people that died from/with it, would have done so within a few more months. The average age of death was above life expectancy. The lockdowns caused deaths that wouldn't have occurred especially in young people. To me, that's the biggest and most important takeaway. Elderly with one foot in the grave is sad. Young people full of potential and decades left on their lives is tragic.

  13.  @aaronvessels  There really isn’t competition and that’s part of the problem. Go look at what’s available to purchase and look at where it’s made. Trying to avoid purchasing from China is impossible. I don’t see how that’s somehow creating competition. China steals intellectual property constantly. They then mass produce a similar but very inferior product and I’m supposed to be grateful I get to end up spending more in the long run having to constantly replace it because they’ve driven out the good product? I really don’t think people fully grasp the situation. I’ve seen people have their designs stolen by Chinese companies. They’ve lost before they are even able to build up their business. China will not allow us to go after these companies so we’re supposed to do nothing as they steal every idea thwarting businesses here?

  14. My husband's Union doesn't do that anymore. They told their representatives to go independent and put political donations based on the person. It's because Democrat policies are causing job losses for Union members. That shift happened during Obama. It's the Engineer and operators Union.

  15.  @cassmarkonthemove  Same. We buy half a cow. We call the processor and he/she gives us the cuts we want. It's way cheaper because my filet costs the same as my ground beef. It's better tasting and better quality than what you get in the store too. I've done it with a pig, but it's not as cost effective. So now we just process any wild female boar we manage to kill while deer hunting.

  16.  @benjones8977  One look at the "Green New Deal" tells you that. No more driving yourself around. All transportation would be public, forcing people to live closer together. No more airplanes. They'll be replaced with high speed rail so no more flying to another country. That will force people to stay close to their families or destroy families because otherwise they'll be almost completely cutoff from them. No more real meat and synthetic meat will be too expensive for most people forcing people to eat bugs for protein or go vegan. The "deal" forces people to live in cities, eat like a 3rd world country, be trapped where you are, and gives the government complete control over all of it.

  17.  @jdtreharne Food is NOT the cheapest it’s ever been. Chicken is up almost 50%. My wage did not go up 50% therefore it’s NOT “the cheapest it’s ever been”. It does no good to build bigger houses if no one can afford to buy them. Especially since most people now no longer want McMansions and instead want houses smaller for less upkeep. In other words the market isn’t being driven by what the consumer wants.

  20.  @mrnarason  Studies have shown lockdowns aren't effective. That simply stressing social distancing and washing your hands produce the same results. Only 1% of the spread can be traced back to dining in a restaurant. 66% is from the home. So why have restaurants been closed because we've known that statistic for awhile? How is Walmart safer than my mom and pop store? Freedom of assembly is guaranteed by the Constitution. No where does it say that assembly has to be a protest. You can give away your rights for a sense of safety if you wish, but you don't get to take away mine because you're afraid. Freedom comes with personal responsibility. Studies also show that these lockdowns and restrictions have caused more deaths globally than the virus ever will. That's just in the short term. In the long term the damage from them will be felt for decades in increases in mental problems, a drop in education for this generation, and an increase in yearly deaths due to diseases not being caught early and from an increase in poverty. That's just in what we can measure right now and doesn't include the financial fallout. So we've sacrificed our future to save those close to and over 80 because those are the most at risk. Before you start with people will die stuff, people are already dying. We all die because that's the nature of life, and more young people are dying from the lockdowns than elderly are from the virus.

They could not force him to use his skills to make something against his religious beliefs. Most people that watch these videos are libertarians who believe private business should be able to refuse service if they want to because the free market will create an alternative if there is a need for it.

  28. That type of deposit has been around since everything was in glass bottles. Unlike plastic bottles though it's because they could be sterilized and reused. I don't believe it was added onto the price though. It was to encourage people to return them for reuse. As for a "tax on poor people", nobody is forcing them to buy it and it's a tax on everyone. That economic group isn't being singled out. You're just using them to justify your opinion as an emotional argument. If your arguments against it were strong enough, you wouldn't have to resort to an emotional one.

  31.  @rtorres4132  You're being disingenuous or you don't have a clue how the Australian government works. Scott Morrison isn't doing this to Australia. It's only in the most heavily populated areas by their state government. Much like in the US, Australian states are more powerful than the federal government. This is happening in New South Wales, not all of Australia which is why a comparison can't be made. Blame the premiers of the states doing what they are in Australia, not the Prime Minister. It's similar to New York putting in massive restrictions, which they are, and thinking that's going to bankrupt Texas or the entire country. It will cause damage outside it's state, but it can't bankrupt the entire country. Edit: All the countries you bring up are also financially supported by the EU. They bailed Greece out 3 or 4 times, and they'd do the same for any other country under it's banner. You are comparing apples to oranges. The reason Venezuela is as comparable to the US is because the US is supported by the Petro dollar just like Venezuela was and we shared similar freedoms.

  32.  @coryc9040  It's not based on "the characteristics of the fetus". It's based on if it needs the mother's body to live. If it doesn't, then it has rights of it's own and that's murder. No one can explain why the baby has to die at that point. It can simply be removed from the uterus and allowed to continue it's life without the woman. I can easily argue the other side of your stance. Why not carry the baby until it no longer requires the woman's body and then remove it? A lot of this boils down to people not understanding the reason there's a state to begin with. The primary role of the state is to protect the lives of it's citizens. That would include future ones. That's why even Roe recognized the interest of the state outweighs the bodily autonomy of the woman at a point. For men that's the draft, for women that's the future citizen inside them. If you really want your brain to explode, ask the pro abortion (because they want up to birth and even beyond now in some states), if the man can abort his rights to the baby. They'll spew prolife arguments at you left and right when you bring them into it, even though 1/2 the baby is their DNA.

  33.  @farjammovahedi4057  Capitalism is based on the free market. China has a tiny amount of capitalism in it's economy, but not much. Most of the things are made under government directive. A lot is in camps and prison labor. That's the government, not a business making that call. Small businesses are privately owned as long as the person/family maintains a certain social credit score. It's removed by the government if they don't. Large companies are 20% owned by the government and the heads of them can and will be replaced for someone more loyal at a moment's notice. That's not capitalism at all. If you're an outside company wanting to tap into China's large population you have to follow very carefully a lot of rules. One misstep and you're tossed out. So attempting to equate China using basically slave labor with capitalism is a very uninformed take. The only thing that can be said is close to capitalism there is in buying things. Even then if your credit score is too low you can't buy certain things.

There are large amounts of shells uncovered at past Native sites along the coasts because they fished and hunted constantly. I can easily hunt and fill my freezer without ever going to a grocery store. Do you think all this land didn't have abundant wildlife like deer and Bison before? Do you seriously think large animals weren't always here pooping and farting? I guarantee there were more Bison, deer, moose, etc than cows on ranches today. If they are part time, then they should have a second job to make up the work hours they aren't getting. Capitalism is the best economic system we have available at the moment. Socialism has always failed and always causes widespread poverty. The US isn't a pure capitalist country so I'm confused why you're making that the standard. We are a mixed economy. Yes, I've been poor. Poor in the US is completely different than poor in Venezuela. I had food, a roof over my head, and clothes on my body. We were on foodstamps and welfare for awhile. Only a tiny fraction of our population falls into extreme poverty and even then, no one in the US starves to death unless it's from abuse. You accuse people of not knowing what it's like in other countries and claim they don't know what it's like to be poor. Then you backtrack when someone points out poverty in the US can't be compared to poverty in other countries because our poor are in the top 1% of the world's population in wealth. Your arguments are so all over the place they don't make sense. It's clear you have no real stance or point. You just want to argue. The $2 is extreme poverty not just poverty. You're not being truthful in your arguments.

I always question them why that life is worth more to them than the ones committing suicide because of the lockdowns, the increase in child abuse, the loss of learning for children, and the millions that will starve to death worldwide. I point out that they are saying that to look like they care, when in reality it's to cover their own fear of death. That they are willing to sacrifice millions in an attempt to maybe protect themselves from something we have no real control over.

How are they going to pay the rent and mortgage that's been piling up under this freeze? Who's going to grow the food, process it, make things, create the gas needed to make things go, fix the stuff that breaks, deliver all this stuff, and all the other necessary things in a functioning system if everyone stays home? Natural disasters don't stop just because you want them to. What about all the 3rd world countries that rely on our food donations to live? Screw them huh.   42.  @cravinbob  They aren't saying it's not real. They are saying there wouldn't have been all the fear mongering by the media for a virus with a 99.97 survival rate for those under 70. Yes that's the real number per the CDC and WHO. To put it in perspective, the yearly flu has a 99.98 survival rate depending on the strain. If we didn't have lockdowns you wouldn't be out of work in the first place. I hate to tell you, but lung damage happens with any pneumonia, which is what happens with this virus. The flu and cold cause it, especially in the elderly and at risk. So if that's your bar, we should never do anything. The government is paying for all treatments of this virus if you don't have insurance unless that got overturned. Meanwhile, I'd suggest being healthy in general, which dramatically reduces the risk of complications from any virus.

The Libertarian view is freedom to associate. It applies to the employer and the employees. It's a response to "loosing job offers" and attempting to clarify that there are legitimate reasons for a job offer being withdrawn. Especially expressing as an adult and recently bad views.

  50. Geologists generally aren't in the alarmists group because they've always studied the Earth's past and understand it better than anyone. I suggest most look to their voices for the truth of the situation rather than climate scientists whose jobs depend on studies the government likes. I was shocked that he found a "fact checker" scientist that would openly admit this is 1000+ years down the road rather than imminent.
