I understand this type of law for construction companies, but not something like moving companies. The reason for it in construction is because fly by night companies will come in build a lot of houses or apartment buildings. Then when people buy them and they are really bad, the company has gone out of business and they have no recourse. The "builders" then make a new company in a new area and repeat the process. That smug SOB talking about a company upping the price when they get to the destination. That's why you have a contract. Then if they try that, you contact the police because that's extortion and illegal.
