@STho205 The 1973 one was due to a boycott and resulted in the US increasing production. The 79 one absolutely was because had the alarmists not predicted we were running out of oil and the government believed them and reduced production, the disruption from the Iranian revolution wouldn't have had a real impact.

@toddlane4261 Was that when the Earth was populated by a massive population of several ton animals and massive fauna? Is it going to tip over or just fall out of orbit?

Yes the temperature of the Earth fluctuates. It always has. 2003 to present is an extremely small window to claim some permanent change has occurred that you observed. For 10 years where I lived we had an ice storm every other year. Then for 10 years we experienced none and mostly warm winters, then we had massive snowstorms that shut everything down and caused widespread power outages. Now the winters are becoming mild again. Weather patterns change based on shifting winds, water flow, distance from the sun, electromagnetic storms, previous waterfall amounts, etc. Edit: Basically welcome to the south. We have really hot years for awhile and not so hot ones. There's 2 seasons, fall and summer. Spring and winter are very short. Blink and you'll miss them. This is why packets of seeds and plants have a range of when to plant and a range in when it'll be time to winter them.

Don't forget the government funds them because the fearmongering is useful to them.

The doomsayers aren't right at all. They are a tiny portion of the scientific community that the government elevate the voices of because a frightened public is easier to get to agree to things.

@leperabbot3343 How exactly are we going to go extinct? We have far more technology and advanced tools and knowledge on how to create things to stop water from coming onto the land and eroding it, to grow food with little to no sun or dirt, to build below ground where it's cooler, how to warm large areas, etc. How is it even possible outside of widespread nuclear war or the expansion of the sun as it dies? Even if the events occurred that wiped out the dinosaurs, we could survive it. Edit: Just like the people that freak out when told so many species went extinct recently, but ignore how many new species are discovered. More are discovered than are lost.
