@brandondherin2558 More than that really. Until the Syrian crisis, we took in 75% of the world's refugees as well. That number is the amount allowed in as green card holders. It doesn't include the various visas for education and other statuses.

Trump wasn't libertarian, but did have more libertarian type policies then any in recent times. I think he was just pointing out where he was and where he wasn't. Since many Libertarians believe in open borders, even specifying MS13, would go against their ideology. Yes I intentionally switched from little l to big L.

@vod96 Trump did that trying to force policy changes. The President can't change immigration law, but can control the flow. He wanted us to move to a point system similar to in the rest of the world. Our current system takes time, but is still one of the easiest and cheapest immigration processes in the world. Most aren't aware of that because they've never really looked into it for other countries. Edit: Panama is a good example. It costs $5000 in fees and a $50,000 deposit into a bank there or invested into businesses just to start the process. That's pretty standard for a 2nd world country. Me and the hubby were looking into retiring to one. That's for a specific retiree Visa. It's similar if you want to start a business. Work visas are point based and they generally don't accept refugees.
