@rtorres4132 You're being disingenuous or you don't have a clue how the Australian government works. Scott Morrison isn't doing this to Australia. It's only in the most heavily populated areas by their state government. Much like in the US, Australian states are more powerful than the federal government. This is happening in New South Wales, not all of Australia which is why a comparison can't be made. Blame the premiers of the states doing what they are in Australia, not the Prime Minister. It's similar to New York putting in massive restrictions, which they are, and thinking that's going to bankrupt Texas or the entire country. It will cause damage outside it's state, but it can't bankrupt the entire country. Edit: All the countries you bring up are also financially supported by the EU. They bailed Greece out 3 or 4 times, and they'd do the same for any other country under it's banner. You are comparing apples to oranges. The reason Venezuela is as comparable to the US is because the US is supported by the Petro dollar just like Venezuela was and we shared similar freedoms.

@rtorres4132 Correct. Some Eastern European countries have bucked against the immigration thing though. The original members of the EU, which was completely controlled by Germany until recently, follow lock step with the EU. Some other countries are now thinking of leaving it, but until they do the EU can fine them and take them to European courts for not following it's directives.

@rtorres4132 I don't think the EU has put measures in as a rule yet, but I know it's voiced support of mandates and passports. Australia is similar to the US. Just like Biden can't mandate vaccines or passports because that's a power regulated to the states, the same is true in Australia. What Morrison wants or doesn't want is irrelevant. Biden is trying to use a work around to his lack of power by mandating it on businesses, but that's unlikely to get past court rulings. That doesn't appear to be an option Morrison is trying to use.

@rtorres4132 If the EU does insist on Covid passports, that will effect travel between EU countries. So most countries will require it within their borders to make sure they can still participate economically within the EU.
