@karozans Correct. Buy from local, smaller farms if you're worried about GMOs. Food that's sold by large companies and that we trade is extremely regulated because it has to meet expectations and be able to provide certain nutrients to a vast and diverse population with different needs. GMO crops allow much higher yields which is needed to feed a growing population. People don't understand that those are real concerns because otherwise one dry season or a too wet season would bring starvation.

@DubKei We know why food allergies have increased. We're too clean. Children aren't being exposed at a young age to germs and other things. This is particularly true in more urban settings. Children raised on farms or in small rural communities have not had these increases. Diseases that cause inflammation are increasing because we can treat them now. They don't die so their genes are passed on. I have Lupus and my family has a long history of autoimmune diseases. It's interesting that our inflammation is increasing yet death from heart disease, which is caused by it, has been declining. Another suggested reason for this is because we're widely testing for it now, which we didn't before. So it might not be a true increase, but rather us just finding it more because we're looking for it.
