It's shocking that actors are now making everything about them personally rather than portraying a role. If they are being themselves and their personal stuff impacts the part, that makes them terrible actors by definition.

@pjetrs Amazon subscription is mostly for the shipping and other perks. Their subscriptions aren't directly tied to their streaming service like Netflix. Their success for that is based on hours watched.

@earlofdoncaster5018 That's according to Tolkien's writing. It doesn't matter what you personally feel about it or anything else because it's not your work or world to define the parameters of. Edit: It's clear you know next to nothing about ancient mythologies. All of them have examples of Gods that destroy people and places for turning away from them. It's thoss mythologies that Tolkien tried to capture in his works which is a mythology for Britain. Tolkien didn't agree with C.S. Lewis writing an allegory in his works. Tolkien didn't write them, which you're implying he did. You'd know that if you watched the video.

They've stopped saying adaptation and now the marketing says "based on". That's how you know they are starting to sweat from the backlash and they know they aren't winning the marketing campaign on this show.

@englishlady9797 Oh dear Lord. They said at ComicCon that he's from the southlands and he's in chains presumably as a slave of the orcs or goblins. This is just going to be a steaming pile of Roots and feminism in a fantasy setting.

@RichardPhillips1066 That's why we're being so vocal and not backing down no matter what mud they attempt to throw. Peter Jackson understood he HAD to appeal to the Tolkien fans. Him and every actor were very careful in everything they said in interviews. They are treating this like just another franchise and clearly didn't and don't understand the fanbase at all.

@DJLtravelvids The subscriptions are for Prime delivery. Most people don't watch the streaming service. That's the difference between Amazon and say Netflix. Since Netflix is only a streaming service, it's content directly impacts its subscribers. Amazon is based on hours viewed of their content instead of subscriber count for investors to judge their streaming service on. That's who they have to appeal to. With the recession now here, the investors are going to be much pickier about who gets their money.

What's even worse as far as she goes is she's never really been to the homeland she's referencing. She has no idea what the women there are going through to get recognition as having rights and just uses it as a virtue signal about how great she is somehow.

Is it just me, or does calling Tolkien's work a "franchise" ruffle anyone else's feathers. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. He's not a franchise. He's one of the most influential and important writers in history.
