  2. That's because Gollum wasn't originally evil like Morgoth or Sauron. He was corrupted. He was showing how corrupt the ring would make someone over time. Smegul (sp) was his original personality trying to break free. I'm just saying he wasn't a "villian" but more a look at the corruption being close to evil causes.

  3. Literally everyone knows that. Tolkien himself said it would need to be changed depending on the medium. He didn't change characters' motivations, he didn't make evil characters sometimes good, he didn't change the feeling of Tolkien's world. He made the clear distinction between good and evil. Edit: This series changes EVERYTHING about the characters and their backstory. It doesn't hold even a glitter of light to Jackson's movies.

  5. If it's not for Tolkien's world, which is the subject, how is he wrong then? What are you disagreeing with? He's not talking about in general. He's speaking specifically about adding that into a world it doesn't belong.

  7. You mean original shows, except The Boys which is based on a comic book exactly like that? There's a big difference between an original and twisting someone else's work. We've all said if they made something original with their ideas we wouldn't care.
