@KemetledAfrica The difference is none of those were documentaries. They were Hollywood productions loosely based on historical events. If you're referring to when Elizabeth Taylor played her in a Hollywood MOVIE, the studios put whatever star was popular at the time in the leading roles because they're MOVIES, not a documentary. In documentaries about her they show her images from statues and coins. If they have an actress to walk across the screen briefly, it's always someone that would look very similar to how she did according to the historical record. The actress being mixed has nothing to do with the historical accuracy of this DOCUMENTARY that's intentionally portraying her as something they know she wasn't. Edit: If they wanted to do black Pharaohs they have the entire, though shortly lived, 25th dynasty. There's no need to mess with the 30th.

@KimmminemWest We know it wasn't black. And yes, we kinda do. We know what Macedonians looked like and what Greeks looked like, which is what she was. Mediterranean, not sub saharan African. We have written descriptions of her in the historical record, we have coins with her image on them, we have descriptions of her very inbred ancestry, etc.

@DAISY-cm8hc Are you seriously trying to claim the play Macbeth is historically accurate? Romeo and Juliet was based on real people too, but nothing in that play took place in real life. Do you really believe Shakespeare somehow knew Cesar said Et tu to Brutus? Shakespeare is fiction. A documentary is non fiction just like a biography is non fiction. Fiction means not true. The director said she intentionally called it a documentary for political reasons. So you're defending her with claims when she made it very clear it's a historic documentary.
20
@KimmminemWest Because she didn't. She was not sub saharan African. Period. We know what she looked like. Documentary means historical facts. It means non fiction, the truth. That's not the truth.

@lotsofspots They weren't colonized or subjugated. Whenever Egypt would get conquered the new rulers wouldn't move their people in and push out Egyptians. That would have been incredibly dumb because they were far more advanced than most other areas. They did tax them and take control of the coveted trade routes that went through there. There's little deviation in their DNA throughout those periods. When the 25th dynasty ruled, there wasn't a sudden influx of sub saharan DNA into the Egyptian people.

@KimmminemWest She had the same colored skin as most Mediterranean people because that's what she was. She was not sub saharan African however which is what this documentary is claiming.
5
@jbiz979 Hollywood makes a lot of documentaries. A documentary is a film based on historical facts. I'll stop caring when they do. I'm not the one trying to claim history is wrong because I want a historical figure to be my race.
5
She did off herself, but we don't know if it was by asp.

@5000G-x2z Yes but 99.9% of Earths population identifies based on their country not continent. Russians are from Russia not Eurasian, Chinese are from China, Germans are from Germany, etc. There also needs to be context taken. She's claiming all of Africa is sub saharan African so yes, many would take offense to someone who has no connection to their country or history demanding they identify how she wants them to.

@GFarrsight They weren't black. We have this thing we can tell genetics from skeletons with now. It's called DNA. They're as black as Nordic people in Europe are the same shade as Italians in Europe. We know who the rulers of Egypt were. We know when it was united and by who. We know the 25th dynasty was black because it was invaded by the Nubians. The intensity of the sun is not the same in north Africa as it is in sub saharan Africa. It snows in north Africa on occasion. It doesn't in sub saharan Africa. Edit: Next you're going to tell me all Natives have the same colored skin and I'll have to better educate you about my people.
3
Um she killed her brother. Caesar wanted the money her husband owed Rome. All she was doing was buying time to prevent Rome from invading. That was her entire reason to get involved with Caesar.
2
@TheCursedCat1927 She's been all over every video about this show. The last one I saw her on she was doing the "but we don't know who her mother was" which is one of the arguments black supremacist use to try to justify these claims.
2
@critica77y77 That's about as documented as the asp she killed herself with, which means not at all. That's a romanticized story created by authors later just as Shakespeare invented the asp story. She retreated to her tomb to kill herself rather than be paraded around Rome as a prisoner. Do you not know the difference between fiction and non fiction?
2
@critica77y77 Except Antony killed himself after he'd been told she went to her tomb, which she did, to kill herself, which she did. She did NOT fake killing herself to see if Antony really loved her. That's from Romeo and Juliet. So obviously you didn't "know full well". Don't make upsurd claims then act like the person correcting those claims is making stuff up.
2
They're remaking it. Gal Gadot has been cast as Cleopatra. A perfectly acceptable choice.
2
@KemetledAfrica Because she looks nothing like Cleopatra and Cleopatra wasn't part sub saharan African. So biracial has nothing to do with anything. If you're trying to claim Cleopatra was you'll first need to prove that Macedonians and Greek are different races rather than just ethnicities. Hint:It's just a different ethnicity. They're both in the Mediterranean. Edit: You're that same person on Vee's video about this show saying the Sphinx "looked African" as if everyone on the continent looks like sub saharan African. That's as ignorant as saying someone from Greece looks just like someone from a Nordic country just because they're both in Europe. You're totally ignorant on the topic, but it doesn't stop you from trying act like you're not. You don't have even a surface level knowledge about genetics, anthropology, or human history. She was olive skinned, not black and was even described as fair meaning lighter than most other Mediterraneans.

@KimmminemWest You've posted this same comment under every comment. We do know. Stop lying.

@Ramsey276one As others have said, yes. The reason all Pharaohs are depicted as having identical hair is because it was a ceremonial wig.

@cattrissal3032 Because it's not just him. It's all of recorded history. Do you think no one researched Egypt before he did? Egypt especially kept extremely detailed written records of everything. Even just everyday trading was recorded. We know who they traded with, when, and for what. Just like we know Ramsses II had carved into stone his great victory against the Hittite Empire, he didn't win. They continued to dominate Syria and signed a peace treaty with them later. So you're claiming we know what happened the 19th dynasty, but we don't the 30th? Even though it's extensively recorded by both Egypt and Rome? Good Lord you're an idiot. Edit: You know nothing about Egypt and it's extensive record keeping. That's why the Library at Alexandria (in Egypt) housed all the world's knowledge. Because they were the best at record keeping.
1
@KemetledAfrica That you don't even know she was educated in Greece shows how little you know about the subject. She was born in Egypt but spent most of her life in Greece. That's why it was so important to her to honor the Egyptian religious ceremonies and have all her statues in Egypt portray her as an Egyptian god like was customary. So the people wouldn't think of her as Greek but as Egyptian so they would follow her. When she was in Greece she wanted to be seen as Greek. Edit: When she married Antony she had an elaborate Egyptian ceremony so the people would accept him. Go away you ignorant twit.

He's got an ego and calls himself the real life Indiana Jones. I understand why he guards Egyptian history so much and is very stingy with the allowing digs however. Egypt has suffered from a lot of stolen artifacts. That doesn't mean he's not still an ahole. I just watched a documentary of them pulling up a sarcophagus up from the bed of the Nile. The crane was pitching and then rope broke. He was livid. Not because it might have damaged but because he had news crews waiting to film it being lifted out of the water and brought on shore and it was running way behind.

@laurendearnley9595 The children she had with them would be a good clue she did. Edit: Which marriage? She had several including her Uncle and brother.
1
@laurendearnley9595 It was widely believed the child she claimed was Ceasar's was really her brother's and she was only claiming that to have a claim to Rome. We don't have DNA so his paternity isn't really known. Questioning if her marriages were consummated is pure conjecture on your part. All royal lines are extremely inbred to keep the line pure. That's true in every Monarchy. King Tut's parents were brother and sister so pretending she didn't do it is pure romanticizing on your part. Tut was also married to his sister and their deformed still born 2 children were buried with him.

@jaceyking5015 So it's fake like Australia.

@supertrendymoneymaker0722 Nobody "vandalized the noses". WTF? Are you trying to claim that the Arabs that made a lot of the discoveries vandalized their history to make it white? Are you insane? Statues of Ramsses II are still being found today and nobody is vandalizing the nose and replacing it before photos are taken. Do you understand how erosion works and how erosive sand is? Are you also claiming the hieroglyphs they painted of their rulers on the tomb walls were also painted over so they'd be tan instead of black? Just how far does this grand conspiracy go? Iraq is also in Africa, they're not sub saharan either. Just like people in Nordic countries are very pale but people in Greece are olive but they're all still in Europe. This idea that everyone from the same massive continent are the same shows how little you understand about anything you're talking about.
