They LOST! They didn't save anything. That's the worst part of what they're saying.

@jneumy566 But they aren't writing it. It's already written. All they should do is fill in blanks and adjust the material to fit the medium. You are correct that they are writing their own story, but they never should have so it's just more evidence of their own egos rather than just inexperience.

@shaneoconnor1407 They could have easily avoided that by following the source material which would resulted in a large audience that would make Bezos happy.

@darktenor4967 That's from the books. Book II Chapter 7: The Mirror of Galadriel. Why would they need a "more faithful adaptation". More faithful than Tolkien's own writing? Edit: The only thing added was her knowing how many times he'd worn the Ring.

I think it's more talking about her own abilities. She can see inside his mind, but keep hers closed to him. He's not in possession of the One at that time. She goes on right after that in the book, saying she knows his plans for the Elves. It's after that that Frodo sees the ring and she explains it to him.

The very start tells me they don't know anything about Tolkien. Bilbo wasn't throwing the party. He wanted no part of it and got so upset about it, he put on the ring to runaway from it. It was being thrown by his family and the Shire because he was now the oldest living Hobbit in history. It's a historic milestone for them as a species. So to characterize it as the Ring corrupting Bilbo and describing him as some type of Emperor when his own family just kept trying to take his stuff is insane. I'm going to find that podcast and see if you can comment on it.

I know the person that spoke with Nerdrotic said the show they made is not anything like it was supposed to be. I will say listening and reading the showrunner interviews confirms that I believe they read Tolkien, but don't understand it. Only now I don't think they read it and if they watched the movies it was a quick skim through. Someone researched it and found things they could justify mutilating the work for sure.

@silverscorpio24 What does people enjoying Jackson's movies have to do with RoP and its showrunners? I'm genuinely curious why you brought him up because your comment makes no sense.
