@DudeTheMighty You mean concensus. I don't believe there's such a thing as appeal to consequences. Language generally requires a concensus on what a particular sound means or it isn't language. It's just a sound. While meanings of words do change over time, it requires a consensus for that change to occur. If I followed your logic I could go around saying the sky is red. When someone corrected me that it's blue, I could simply say they're incorrect because words change over time. Meaning no one could ever be incorrect no matter what words they choose to use and we'll no longer be able to communicate. Which means civilization and all our achievements would become lost. This idea you have that an appeal to concensus is bad when it comes to language just tells me you don't understand what you're talking about. Edit: Also, even if a new usage of a word emerges, the old definition still applies. It doesn't magically erase the old meaning. Then you look at the context it's being used in to determine which definition is being used. I guess you hate the dictionary and everything ever written since you're trying to assert concensus is bad.

The issue is they connect capitalism with the US economic system. They don't know it's not capitalism and is instead a mixed economic system like most around the world. They think since. capitalists can operate within the system it's capitalism. By that reasoning China is a capitalist country, but they'd explode if you told them that.
