  1. There was a legal reason why Disney's special status was changed and it wasn't political reasons. Disney was breaking the regulations of the special district by controlling it. The board is supposed to represent the citizens that reside in the special district. Instead the board was appointed by and working only in favor of Disney. They were issuing bonds that were going to help fund Disney projects. They'd been doing this for a long time. It's just the government finally stopped looking the other way about it. They weren't stripped of special status either. They were merely given the exact same special status as every other company that has it where as before their special status was far more favorable than say Universal. They simply leveled the playing field. Edit: Basically the courts weren't ruling on the supposed "punishment" that Disney alleged so legally it didn't set some kind of precedent that can be used by the other side.
