@matrinezkevin11492 Latino is just short for Latin America or South America, which was mostly Spanish colonies. It's basically anyone from South America that's of Native descent. Hispanic refers to anyone who's from a former Spanish colony, which includes those not on the American continents. Hispanic can be any race whereas Latino is going to be Native or mixed with Native. That's why on forms you have Hispanic (white) and just Hispanic. Edit: The reason it's not mezio (sp) is because those tribes extended into the US and the legal language trying to differentiate between the ones that are and aren't would get confusing. So original South Americans are simply called Latino because for a very long time South America was just called Latin America.

@nappyk96 I'll just say it was allowed because everything is getting yeeted. Edit: Allowed rather than planned. That allowance might have well been set as a trap and then it was incompetence.
