My youngest son is gay. He gets asked by younger people he works with why he didn't put it on his applications because he'd get hired immediately. He explained that first it's nobody's business and secondly he doesn't want to be hired based on that. That it's demeaning. They were confused but hopefully some of them take it to heart. Edit: We live in an area with a large Native population. While I am of that ancestry, I'm not an official member of a tribe so told my sons not to check it. My husband is Roma/Gypsy and it's reflected in the youngest. I worry that when he shows up in person they mistake him for Native and use that because he's gotten every job he has an in person interview with.
