@leonrobinson2053 That's a misconception. There are plenty of Earth metals and minerals, especially lithium, that can be mined there. It's just that the country has been split up and controlled by different entities for a very long time and internal fighting that they don't have the ability to draw investors to get to them or the cohesion needed to do it themselves.

@jeredsteen6663 We weren't the only ones in Germany. It was split between the allied forces. Truth is Britain had more to do with the nation building in Germany than the US. South Korea is because we're technically still at war there and the people and government want us there. We were in Japan and Germany because that was the agreement after they surrendered, something that didn't happen in Afghanistan. You're comparing apples and oranges. We are in Kuwait because, again completely different scenario, they were invaded and welcome us as having protected them from that invading force. At no time did Afghanistan do anything against us to justify invading and occupying them for 20 years. Our reason for even being there ended when Bin Laden was killed. They want to be ruled as an Islamic country and it's not our place to just invade somewhere because we don't like the government. Thinking like that 100% justifies China invading anywhere because they want it to be Communist.
