Jeremy Rittenberry I wish that was true. 2 months ago, 6 guys caught fire at the refinery my husband just left. OSHA had been contacted and in that plant multiple times for safety violations. They got a fine and kept operating with falling apart equipment because they refused to do proper maintenance. This particular company has 3 refineries and accidents like that are common and people have died. They are well known by OSHA and nothing gets done. Those regulations are pointless if it's just a fine that they can easily pay.

@braydenebel8799 First of all capitalism isn't really a thing. It's the word Marx created to describe how trade has worked since before civilization. The US and other Western countries aren't capitalism either. They are mixed economy and mostly corportasim. Every time you can point to a stagnation in competition, you can find the government cause of it. Part of it is the patent system. A new idea is patented for such a long time that it allows a company to block competition while it creates a monopoly on the market. Without that, competition would exist immediately and prices would be lower and it would allow far more choices in quality and price. There is also lobbying which large corporations use to influence the government to make regulations that stifle their competitors with regulations and requirements that they can already afford. The minimum wage is a good example. There's a reason Amazon and other massive companies support a $15 minimum wage. It blocks small start ups from growing allowing them to continue to monopolize the current and future market.
