  1. I'm wondering if he thinks people forgot that happened or everyone but him is dead from back then. I too remember my parents talking about turning off lights and how they couldn't afford a car or a house. That I had to wear my brother's clothes because we couldn't afford ones for me.

  2.  @yankeetraitor2837  I know that sounds hilarious, but there was an energy crisis created by fears of oil running out so Iran and other middle east countries stopped selling oil. That caused rationing of gas. So yes "Screw those A-rabs" was pretty common. Lol

  3. My parents discussed stuff because they wanted us to understand why they said no to somethings when other years it was yes. That's not adding stress to children. We never thought we'd be on the streets or anything. We just understood it meant no new school clothes or traveling (except driving to the farm to work during harvest so we could eat).

  5. That's so familiar. Though they'd say the economy was always better under Democrats, but didn't know why. When I started working minimum wage was $3.25.
