@dwightschrute5979 You don't need a degree to do well in creative arts. You need talent and time. Nobody makes the big bucks out of the gate in those professions because you have to develop a reputation. My son is a bassist. He earned a reputation in high school and was on the radar of big names in the music business as well as the #2 and #3 music schools. Not because he has a degree, but because he has talent. The bass we bought him was a cheap $250. He was also nationally ranked in Tuba and was courted by several symphonies. We are by no means rich or the elite. We were on foodstamps when he was born. You're arguing for people with mediocre talent to rise to the top of creative fields.

@blakegendron1949 So you're arguing for the government to create a new problem to fix another problem they created. The reason their debt is so high is because of government backed student loans. When does the bailout stop? If we do it now, we'll have to keep doing it because it will end stories like these to warn others not to do it. There will be no incentive for those looking at college now to not keep repeating this scenario. That means that it won't do what you think it will. It will create an even bigger financial burden on the taxpayer down the road. That's the problem with quick solutions. They never look at possible future consequences for those decisions, just like these adults.
