@@itzryder8409It was never only 6 months. In my state it’s 10 years. Given that much of my state is still very rural it still makes sense. Lots of abandoned properties in secluded areas. Edit: It’s also misleading because a lot of these aren’t squatters rights but instead using renters rights.

They are squatting, but they’re not using those laws. They’re using renter protection laws. Laws put in to protect renters from being kicked out even though they haven’t violated the contract. Am I the only one watching the video?

They aren’t doing this using squatter’s rights. It’s renter rights. They are squatting but that’s NOT the laws they’re using.

I know a landlord and yes it’s terrible. They’ll destroy so much that she then has to pay to fix before it can be rented again with zero compensation. Then people complain because the rent is high. Yeah they’ve got to recoup those losses somewhere.

@babyamyxo-o6c I guess you don’t know many bikers. They might be criminals but much like the mob they have a code of honor.

That’s why my brother is now living in my house even though he has his own cabin. We moved and that house is at more risk of being noticed it’s empty.

The thing is most of these laws were put in place to protect renters from being taken advantage of. Most places require a security deposit plus 2-3 months rent in advance. Then they’d kick out the renter in a couple of weeks and they had no recourse and no savings to rent another place because of the upfront cost. I understand the purpose of the laws. There’s just going to need adjustments made to them.

You’ll need to look at protection laws for renters. I’m from Arkansas and we don’t have them so it’s not an issue there. When it comes to squatter’s rights it requires years of residency.

That’s searches and seizures from the government. Not another citizen. The Constitution is a restriction on the government.

Whoever is paying the insurance premiums.

There’s a reason this is more of an issue in large cities than small towns. Even where I moved to 3 years ago, every neighbor knows who we are and our vehicles. I always saw gated communities as a safety thing. Status wise would be if you could afford your own.

@gonzos-twin That’s for the court to decide because it’s a contract dispute at that point. Becoming a notary is pretty simple and there are a lot that will notarize anything for a price.
2
You have to break in when they aren’t home and change the locks.
2
That would be the taxpayers. “The court” doesn’t have money.
2
Yes because a squatter stealing someone’s home wouldn’t lie. I mean they said they were renting and had a lease but that’s the only one lie.
1
Because it’s contracts. That’s civil law not criminal. The police aren’t qualified to know if a contract is in order or even correct. Not all lawyers would know that. That’s a particular branch of legal services.

Oh I’m sorry. I know some landlords and was well aware of the nightmare it can be. It’s why I didn’t rent my parents house out after they died. I’m not dealing with that for $700 or so a month. What pisses me off is everyone blames them. Taxes go up so they have to increase rent to cover it. They’re called greedy. If you don’t give it away you’re just greedy. It’s disgusting.

You do understand they’re a management company right? Landowners pay them to manage their property so they don’t have to deal with it. Usually because they live in another state. They don’t own the properties. If you see an investment firm buying up properties it’s usually because they’re going to turn it into something. I know everyone was freaking out over BlackRock buying up properties but it wasn’t that many and it was in specific areas which were development properties.

I have a friend that stole a Porsche. He took it to a chop shop, got the numbers changed, and sent off for a lost title. Yes someone can indeed fake it to own your car.
1
@InternetTAB Yes but rental agreements are private contracts. There is no legal record of them.
1
You do understand when renters or these squatters destroy the property that money has to come from somewhere right? It means rent increases. Everything isn’t just greed. Why would all the landlords increase their rent all at the same time? Not just companies but all individuals. Someone would be smart enough not to, to then attract far more renters and be able to pick the best, most responsible ones. They’d never have to worry about having bad tenants. Maybe, just maybe, it’s the city increasing property taxes and regulations that causes the rents to increase.
1
It’s not squatter’s rights laws they’re using. It’s renter rights. They are squatters but the laws enabling it is renter rights.
1
He went over several houses that were for sale that it happened and ones who had a family member die and squatters moved in.
1
That’s actual squatter’s rights but you have to live for many years.
1
Yes it takes awhile to evict someone but not 2 years. These aren’t renters. They’re squatters using renter protection laws. I know landlords too. These people aren’t landlords. They’re individuals who have had their home stolen. Completely different.
1
They can’t. It’s illegal to. These are renter protection laws not squatter’s rights.
1
It’s in renter protection laws for that area. Let’s say your renting and in compliance with your agreement 100%. Your landlord decides he wants a friend to now live there. He can’t evict you or just void the contract. So instead he turns the utilities off until you just leave forcing you to violate the contract. It’s to prevent something like that.
