I know ASL and it was extremely difficult to follow her with those nails. The second one with long, but not excessively long, nails was much better. So she's not really "normalizing" ASL with long nails because women have had longer nails for a long time. She wants to normalize insanely long nails that basically make you unable to use your hands thus creating a man made disability.

Do you even have a clue why it's an "issue" in the deaf community? It's an issue because she's trying to talk to them and they can't understand her because her nails are hiding the small finger movements required to understand each other. This isn't an "issue" or a problem. It's like being upset because someone speaking a different language can't understand your stilted attempts at speaking to them. She's being offensive to the rest of the deaf community. Offense can go both ways. No, not everything is an "issue" that needs to be addressed. People are different and utopia isn't a thing because people are different. You can accept those differences or you can choose to be upset about them. The choice is yours alone to make and it shouldn't involve anyone else. Edit: The idea that anything you don't like is some major issue that requires advocacy and dragging other people into it is narcissistic and has nothing to do with making society better, but just making things better for yourself.

The long nails on nurses is a serious issue. When my son was 2 he needed x-rays. That requires some restraint for one so young. The nurse at the children's hospital had long nails like that and left indentions on his arms from them. I was pissed and made a formal complaint. That's dangerous.

You couldn't tell because her nails were so distracting and impairing a lot of the smaller finger movements required. It wouldn't have been easy for another deaf person to understand her.
