Not often. Mainly because we still had investigative journalism which is lacking today. Most things eventually came out. It also would have been handled by the CIA because it involves international things. It's really odd that this came from the FBI. FBI is for things coming from inside the country and anything with Russia would be from outside.

@jonboy9734 That's an excuse, not a justification. They enjoy 230 protection so they can't be held responsible for what someone else posts on their platform. They can curate their content like a cable company and be a publisher or they can remain a platform and not act like a publisher by deciding what is or isn't allowed. Edit: Microsoft enjoyed a lot of advertisers on their search engine and didn't remove websites. So advertisers really don't care as long as their ad is seen.

At least he went on without a lawyer as armor like Jack did.

@hnewc1919 Nobody thinks Hunter's laptop would be a national security issue. A national security issue would be terrorist organization using it to plan an attack or recruit. Even then, it should require a warrant to get access to anyone's information. Releasing top secret documents would be a national security issue. Hunter wasn't in the government so couldn't be one.

@Cpruett Defamation, which is what was done to him, is a civil not criminal matter. That's as it was set forth by the founders. Capital punishment for stating falsehoods about a person is beyond troubling and would be just as effective at diminishing free speech as removing the first amendment would. People would be terrified to say anything about anyone out of fear they are wrong and will be put to death. Edit: I'm assuming you like free speech. You stating what you did is no different (far worse in my opinion) than FB and Twitter deplatforming people. You're having a knee jerk reaction based on emotion which is why people are screaming about harm reduction and causing all these problems.

No because that's a civil matter as far as the news goes. The FBI should have been reprimanded and sued because they were the ones responsible for the circus that ensued. They searched him repeatedly and told reporters he was the only suspect and they believed him to be guilty. The news was only reporting on what the FBI was telling them. It was a bombing at the Olympics on American soil. Of course the main suspect was going to be headline news. If the FBI had of kept options open instead of telling news organizations he did it so he could get attention as the hero, none of it ever would have happened. I don't think people still understand that motive was given by the FBI, not the news outlets.
