@markzuckergecko621 Imagine if people acted during the depression like they do today. People walked hundreds of miles with everything they needed in a cart they pulled along to go where the jobs were. Now they won't even buy a bus ticket and instead choose to just complain and accept what's going on. It's complete risk aversion so they too deserve to live with the consequences of their choices.

@StandStrong614 Sorry but choosing comfort over safety isn't a win. Choosing to stay because you're being taken care of by the state means you're never going to improve your situation in life. Don't pretend they don't have a choice because they do, the choice they made is to stay and that choice is also determining their children's future to the same. They'll see their parent chose slight comfort over taking a chance for a better life. Refusing to struggle somewhere else for a couple of years knowing you'll make more in the long run is a choice. It's a choice me and my husband made for better opportunities not just for us, but for our children. Twice. It's seen us go from welfare to upper middle class so I don't have sympathy for those that choose to remain in their situation because it's easier than taking a risk. A lot of people in the dying little town we left are making that same choice even though we've offered to help them get better opportunities where we moved to. I understand it, but I'm not going to waste sympathy on their choices.

@Money_Fox How is it "important"? Hollywood? Most films aren't made there. Silicon valley? Most tech companies are moving out due to taxes. You can't just say it's important without showing how it is.

@Money_Fox If you have children you should be even more motivated to get out. Being poor isn't a reason. Homeless from all over the country can get there, but somehow a poor person cannot leave? The poorer you are the less stuff you have to move. It's easier if you're poor. It's a bus ticket. Apply for jobs in other areas, once you're hired, get a bus ticket. You might have to stay in a really cheap motel for awhile, but if you're already living in a bad area that wouldn't be much different.
